What happened in Lanka was a great human tragedy. In the name of eliminating 'terrorist' LTTE the lankan army went overboard and buldozed everyone on the way. It was a question of historic moment for them and didn't care about anything else. Kudos to the Western World for raising this issue, when being near neighbours we are expected to raise this issue. Lanka has never been Indian friend. They supported(!) India in the 60s-70s war and they already got the plum coral reef of Kachatheevu via backdoor. After that they have been threatening India to get favors and gave us nothing back !. Indira Gandhi took a proactive role to keep Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Lanka everyone in check !. After that Vajpayee did it with quiet diplomacy incl. denying lanka the arms they wanted ! But this UPA lot has mishandled our foreign policy so badly, now it is lose-lose !!.. TN is now dead against congress that they will not get deposit in a single seat, despite this vote... They won only 4 seats in Assy in 2011, that too only from border districts of KA and KL... It will get worse in 2014.. PC and Vasan are better off going to Rajyasabha from other states, than contesting elections in TN... By voting for this resolution, so late, in a tepid manner they have antagonized Lanka also.. they lost DMK support as well... So over all, both ways the indecisiveness has cost UPA dear.. I only wish Sonia took a chapter out of her MIL's book on how to be quick, decisive and assertive...

killing!!!????? all the fights have stopped long time back..... the firing in no fire zone happened because ltte cadre went into that zone and hid behind women and children to escape.

jitesh that was during the war now you can see how many citizens are killed dont be biased i have seen and heard various international agencies are alarmed at the plight of the citizens there please have some concern as human BTW you think only pak as big enemy as you happen to be nortie come out of your narrow mindset all those innocent citizens are humans and i hope you are also one

Srilanka was only one of the few good neighbours we had and we want to lose them too, with Pak, China, Bangladesh, Maldives & Nepal around us, we should have had some sense not to create additional enemies. What we did was stupidness to the core.

Oh yes hd another sory for former east Pakistan. They were Pakistanis too so why did you interfere to create Bangladesh? Ok if it was an internal matter why did you government create the LTTE then send the IPKF to creat more chaos then aided and abeted the Sinhalese to commit genocide and protect them everywhere? Even now they were ready to defend the Sinhales, However due to large scale protests in Tamil nadu and arm twisting by the DML and ADMK. India gave a luke warm suport to a watered down resolution. You are an anti Tamnil HIndian, Will have one rule for North Indians and Hindians and another for Southern Indians especially Tamils.
