There is no point in blaming BMC. 60% people of Mumbai live in slums and some more in slum like areas. They are all ecroachers. They are staying illegally on govt or pvt property. Do we have courage to move out them?

BMC is the only authority and supposed to deal with encroachment. When Kairnar tried to demolish, he was transferred and chargsheeted
Absolutely right...Mumbai is turning into a big drain and i wonder how are we surviving here...poor road condition is worsening day by day....there is no sign of improvement and we blame it on rains...look around and we can certainly see its not because of rains but because of negligence by BMC..Mumbai infrastructure is indeed making the whole country ashamed....

Yes. Mumbai is dirtiest ci ty in the World. I am staying in Mumbai for the last 65 years. It was very clean between 1950 to 1975. As exodus started from other states, the popualtion multiplied 20 times. BMC is totally disorganized. Highly corrupt. qulity of road builing is worst in the world. Our Ministers are from outside Mumbai. /they have NO interest in keeping Mumbai clean. Their only interest is to make money at cost selling land and build huge estates in their home town. For votes they will allow more people from other States, including Bangladeshis to settle in Mumbai, with No thought for providing civic amenities. This will continue endlessly. Until we appoint Administrative body to Govern Mumbai which includes people like RAtan Tata. Keep all Ministers out of administration. PLEASE NOTE AFTER BRITISH LEFT NOT A SINGLE STRUCTURE LIKE V.T., GATEWAY IS CONSTRUCTED BY INDIAN GOVT. EXCEPT ZOPADPATTTIES/ OR JAGGI ZOPADIS. WE ARE THIRD RATE, NO POINT IN WRITING ABOUNT OUR inefficiency and pot holes in Monsoon. we deserve from what we elected. Incredible India.

exactly the BMC gets 2000 crores just as taxes from people who are not originally from mumbai/maharastra, which is payed to the useless babus who secured jobs playing the son of the soil card, and the SS and MNS stipen it off to the contractors whom they award the contract, then if some thing comes up play the marathi card.

The City that you are talking about which existed from 1950 to 1975 was Bombay inhabited by a multicultural yet industrious society. The degradation started when it was swarmed with a lot of incompetent people, politicians and their vote-banks not necessarily from other states and then finally the transition was complete from Bombay to Mumbai.

Its nice u have left Mumbai and Gone to Delhi,at least one inefficient voter has left the voter list of Mumbai and gone out, instead of voting good people,we dont vote and hence the jhopad patti walas vote the bad people who have brought them from various parts and setteled them...for the votes and they get elected. Then Rule is theirs they Eat and Eat and nothing is left for PURE Development. And hence All, not only Mumbai All of our ceties are Rotting
The amount of rain fall mumbai receives should be first understood. It rains really heavy and for several days continuously in mumbai.difficult for people from other places to even imagine. If it was any other city the it couldn't have even handled it.

Correct. All who talking about Mumbai dont know the fact a) Its being flooding at low lying areas around SION, Mahim and others during High Tide from Ocean. b) Drainage system cant beat Ocean. there are no logging at SOuth Mumbai as example since the city was meant to built that area with proper thinking. No logging in South Mumbai except Mazgaon again Low lying area

But brother, Singapore too receives a huge amount of rainfall. It rains 365 days of the year and just like Mumbai it is surrounded by the sea on all sides. Yet the roads in Singapore remain in pristine condition. Reason? Great workmanship, high value for public money, most stringent norms and specifications for construction and town planning, and most importantly, zero tolerance toward corruption.

Heavy rainfall is not a new phenomenon. It happens predictably in Jun-Aug every year. And yet there is flooding. Many cities on Coramandel coast face irregular cyclonic depressions that bring rain and devastating gales. You don't hear them not getting defensive about bad administration. Mumbai corporation is not up to the mark.

Himanshu..The problem is not the rains...its a mere excuse given to Mumbai year on year...do we have roads here !!! Look at the condition of roads and filth around...it really takes me for surprise that we live in a metro like mumbai..We are indeed in a very poor situation and its high time we accept this city lacks highly in infrastructure...
