What to tell your son on rape

Till the time we have this concept of izzat attached to rape, people in villages and towns will continue to hide the rape cases thus emboldening the rapists.

All such cases need to be reported and victim needs to be given an atmosphere where she can move on. And yes, if getting robbed, getting murdered does not include izzat lutna, neither does rape.

Valid point. And this happens because Indian woman are stereo typed as Sati Savithri's and Sita's even in this modern times! While the ideals are noble following that should be only a personal choice. Rural india puts a lot of restrictions on how woman should behave and this leads to a situation that woman stand no chance in the society for her life, advancement and happiness.

Unless she toes the line of her male chauvinist hubby, inlaws and the like she will be dumped for ever. Education is the only tool that will help woman come out of the mud.
