The maid knew everything she had to do? That means she was free as much other citizens. Looks like she is just being used by some elements to frame khobragade. It takes even a well travelled person to get acustomed to the country, people, places and this women even knew the laws and people who could help her? how is that possible unless there was some help from indians from the consulate? Looks like khobragade's case is not of abuse but more of disagreement on wages. The maid got greedy and possibly was promised other things. Looks like Preet Bahara is just this case to garner more support from locals most importantly indian americans to get voted to be the governer of New york. It is more personal than anything to do with US governement. Dont think any of US laws were broken in this case atleast. US should start learning indian history more before these indian migrants take the whole country down and make it another UP or bihar.

As per the Rediff report that I have just read the actions of the US Govt seems very fair. How can a personal maid be given an official white passport. why are we unnecessarily supporting a wrong act by an Indian diplomat. she should be sacked for bringing India to disrepute

be fully informed before arriving to conclusions.The maid was given an official passport to enable her to get an A1 visa.if she were to have a normal passport she will not be permitted to be brought to the US to work as a maid.Another factor is that the US demands that the maid be given the same wages which are applicable locally in the US. which amounts to almost USD 2000/month which is definitely higher than your salary .These maids are cunning and smart and resort to these things to be able to seek asylum in the US for a better life.The prestige of your nation and that of the diplomatic community is of small concern to them.
Where ever they go..let it be Servant,Governess or a Diplomat...There was history that the wife of former Indian president stole one golden spoon used for serving purpose,in a dinner for the president in Kottkkl Arya Vaidya Sala In Kerala...
Looks like Devyani and gang are running some scams in US and Indian govt is totally supportive for their illegal activities ... just like Adarsh Society scam by Devyani and her father !!
And I highly doubt any Indian community in US would condemn arrest of Devyani after knowing her scandalous nature !

And she is no SAINT. Through her father Uttam Khobragade, who was one of he most corrupt & manipulative bureaucrats of Maharashtra, Devyani had acquired a flat in the infamous Adarsh society in Mumbai.
Let her face the law in the US which she had clearly flouted.

The domestic help was a greedy. This is the quality of people we have from india. Technically, there is no difference between the consulate official. Both are pathetic to the core
