when modi will grow up
by aditya nath on Aug 15, 2013 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

Independence day is not for politics/tu tu main main speeches. It is beyond party politics and we should summarise our achievements, challenges ahead and a road map how to surge ahead as a civilisation. it is not a debate competition nor state vs state or center vs state. Modi should go to parliament first and have to have an all india outlook before talking big big lies. This gujurat centric outlook and parochial party politics mentality is not good for the country. PM is not an individual..it is an institution and all policy dicision is not taken by any individual rather by various institutional mechanism so also its implementation. Modi needs to grow up and his language/gesture should be like statesman nor this sort of street goonda attitude.

A small question Mr.PM
by rajat lahiry on Aug 15, 2013 11:44 AM  | Hide replies

Veerappa Moily stated on 15th June this year that India imports $160Billion of crude & that we are floating on oil.PM spent lot of time in his speech claiming development of infrastructure, but did not utter a single word on development of indigenous oil fields, which would have prevented outgo of huge amount of foreign exchange.WHY?

Heavy rains & floods is being told as major reason for the astronomical rise in price of Onion.PM left the subject untouched.
In 1971, Dr.K.L.Rao- a congress minister, devised a scheme to eliminate floods from the country by linking Ganga with Cauveri river.PM, during his 10 years of power was never heard to speak a single sentence on the subject. Wonder why?

Actually, the estimated reserves of oil fields in India are very limited. Whatever oil that is still left to be explored lies deep under the Deccan plateau (industry terms it the 'Deccan trap').

All the existing oil fields are already well exploited and some like Bombay high are over exploited and are nearing the end of their life spans.

What India has in plenty is natural gas in several sectors.

The main one - Krishna Godavari basin - is now embroiled in a controversy due to the central govt. deciding to hand it over entirely and virtually for free to the Mukesh Ambani group!

So, that really is India's situation as far as oil security is concerned. Whatever oil India has meets only about 20 % of its requirement. And its substantial natural gas reserves are being pawned away free to private profiteers like Ambani just because the two national parties - the Congress and the BJP - are being paid handsomely by Ambani!

•      Article in TOI – Mumbai dated 25.09.2011 by Swaminathan.S.Ankalesaria Iyer
•      Estimated reserves in Assam /Arunachal Pradesh/Nagaland are 137 Billion Tons with recovery possibility of 10-20%.
Estimated reserves in Deccan Plateau are 30 Billion Tons. Hydrocarbon has been found in the exploratory well Karjan-9, drilled in the nomination block Karjan extension-1 in Ankleshwar (Gujarat). The testing result has established a new prospect discovery.
Sources said ONGC has found gas in exploratory well Kunjaban-3 drilled in north Agartala. The company has also encountered oil in its exploratory well Halisa-12 in Ahmedabad region. "The testing result has opened up new stratigraphic play for exploration in the area," an expert said.
•      If commerciality of the discovery is established, India will be one of the top oil-producing countries as the Deccan Traps (also called Deccan Syneclise) is stated to have massive oil deposits, estimated around 30 billion tonne. The Deccan Traps, considered 65 million years old, extend from Saurashtra to central India.
•      If these reserves are suitably exploited then India can turn in to crude exporting country instead of crude importing country. Currently we are importing crude worth $160 Billion.

Worst period for India
by Neeta S on Aug 15, 2013 11:24 AM

This is the worst year for the country. India is seeing the disastrous fallout of UPA regimes I and II. Many people believed 8-9% growth during UPA-I was because of their team of dolts and this non-elected puppet PM. When it was actually because of the NDA policies that opened up telecom and other sectors and often times the results of policies are seen only after 3-4 years. By term II of UPA we began to see what Congress has always been - anything more than 3% growth makes them insecure. So we are at this state now. Hope this is MMS last I-Day speech. We have had enough.

PM says 'the day is not far off when India will be rid of poverty, hunger, disease and ignorance' .

This has been said since the past 50 years . But it has not happened.

China has already got rid of poverty, hunger, disease and ignorance . When will India do it ?
Maybe after 150 years .

SEe the difference.
