What FDI will do ?
by RAJ on Sep 29, 2012 09:20 AM  | Hide replies

FDI is the only way we can grow and hence foreign companies are welcome. This was same argument, which was put forwarded by the various kingdoms in India, when they allowed East India company to establish business in India in 17th Century. We all know what happened afterwards.

Who ever has the control of Money would rule. This is universal truth.

If we allow Foreigners to have monopoly in our key business areas like Retails, they would control both the infra structure and distribution and this will in turn control us.

Th proponents of FDI will say, this will not happen as we are a democracy. The truth is this is already happening. For example, Vodafone alone takes away per annum more than 4000 crores away from India? If this is not neo colonialism what is this sir?

Also the real truth is for during the last two decades the contribution of FDI in India's GDP growth was less than 5% as per the planning commission itself. If the FDI contribution is so miniscule why are we allowing the Foreigners to become monopoly in key sectors of business like Retail?

and we can do without vodafone. but they got Tata looped into all this and Tata keeps all the earning from tetley and jaguar/rover in videsh to bring only small portion of it to india.
ON THE other hand, we need FDI in PDS which is controlled by government with power to buy that FDI.

You are absolutely right Hoga. Our government consistently failed to set up adequate infrastructure for Public distribution after taking huge taxes from poor people ( through various channels) and now they are saying, Foreigners will come and set up infrastructure for us. As if these foreign companies are Charities who would come and set up infrastructure in India to help poor people in India?

again..bjp-congress cartel gimmicks monopoly needs to end
by hogajoga on Sep 29, 2012 09:17 AM

FDI take money out as well. For every 100 invested, they want to take our a lot more every year by various means. ISSUES IS NOT FDI. ISSUE IS Where we need FDI. VIDESHI FDI wantto take profit (to videsh) as well without improving basic. Until FDI money is put into PDS, it is all publicity by GOI congress and fake opposition led by BJP. Rhetorics by opposition. With ROTTING GRAIN, PEOPLE HUNGRY. Is theFDI coming for Public distribution System? NO. THE FDI money is not for the backend of PDS. Neither will Ration shops be expanded to compete with big bazar and FDI be used to expand and upgrade ration shops. we have no issues if FDI has 26%-49% ownership in ration shops to upgrade and be competitive. And smaller outlets of ration shops can also staY and WE CAN make them competitive as well with better front and backend and better trained staff.
By expansion, we mean new products and services will be provided by ration shop yet old services of serving low income will continue and be much better due to efficient backend.

Indian traditional people have a fear of foreign competition, which is genuine. Foreign competition in retail will practically wipe out most Indian businessmen because their capacity to change their habits towards customers is almost zero.

However the Indian population consists of about 98 % others and only about 2 % businessmen. It is a clear division of interests. In fact in India it is since the beginning a civil war but without the fighting because these victims never fight.

So the foreigners should be welcomed to come to India to help in wiping out traditional Indian businessmen. Later on it will cause a very slow process of restructuring and ultimately Indians will get into business again, but that time with revised habits.

Otherwise the country will remain stuck in the rut as inherited from ancestors, and the poor will remain poor as ordained by the Indian customs.

all this restructuring should happen through ration shops as written above. Otherwise, we will have x replace by y doing the same.

And today certain politicians play "upper caste versus rest". With all sorts of like. tomorrow they will play their "replacement versus rest".

Those who want to wield power should never ask questions of or about themselves. Self doubt is the enemy of power. Power requires single mindedness and the habit of ignoring all realities and possibilities, which is not possible to do once self questioning starts.

Since Indian society has no ability to change its structure, only a phase of destruction can create the possibility of betterment. These foreign businessmen might cause some destruction of local businesses, and thereby upset the social structure. It is a destructive and painful process, but must be welcomed. It is better to take bitter medicine than to leave the fever untreated.

It is the right agenda for them because they represent the traditional upper class people, who do not wish to leave their controlling position in society.

Congress represents the moving average of all people through a process of power negotiations. It is likely to represent the lower class interests too to some extent. That threatens to bring change in dominance of the classes.

If India did not have these entirely opposite parties then there would be a kind of anarchy. Interests of different Indian classes are fundamentally opposite to each other. The country can be stable only if these divisions are allowed to be in the open and both sides get power through activities in the political power market.
