Instead of recognizing the problem we try to live in a world of denials. How many government hospitals are equpped well to tackle HIV positive cases safely? One need 5-6 universal precaution kits at least for operating upon a positive patient, which is not available in most government hospitals. The market price for such kit is around 12000 for 6 sets. How many patients in government hospital can afford to spend 12000 Rs extra for a procedure than a nagative patient? Who will bear the extra cost of treating such patients if things are not available in hospitals or patient can't afford? Think again.
TO tackle the issue, just increase the QUOTA of reservations in medical and nursing colleges and bring down the cut off for government jobs. Whoever applies, give em jobs.

How can you ensure that the nurses refused to go anywhere near the HIV infected children had come from reserved quota. They might belong to general category. Not all doctors and nurses belonging to general category ave proper knowledge and all coming from reserved quota lack knowledge.
hiv may not be contagious like smallpox etc...... but there are so many other means by which HIV can spread from one person to the other person..are 100% safety precautions avialble???
Govt Has to increase allocation for public health care spending rather than giving some doles. Increase number of Govt Hospitals with better facilities and hygine. Restrict the no: of people who come to visit patients to hospital to only 2. Increase salaries for attendents and nurses and cleaning staff & provide better handling equipment to them. People who visit these hospitals should also understand keeping their hygine. For HIV patients separate health care and hospitals can be provided to reduce the discrimination during treatments..
I lived in a separate room, plate, soap, towel, glasses and so on. Because I did not want the virus to spread to anyone else (though it was a dengue case actually). But I received medical care where the staff were extremely careful. Similarly, the medical staff, hospitals and equipments whould be planned for HIV sufficiently so that they get treatment and at the same time, the virus does not spread through means similar to syringes.
In the entire article, the author did not say what about the instruments that are used by dentist in an HIV patient used on another patient. Today disposable syringe came into existence because of that reason. That is about dentistry. We should have a separate hosptal for HIV patients with all facilities so that there is no spread by mistake which is very common in Govt hospitals
