She shaped the thinking and provided clarity to so many of us, the modern confident professional and proud Hindus around the world. Enjoyed her columns thoroughly.

Speak for yourself. There are more of us out here who never needed a Varsha to feel either proud or confident. She made us cringe with embarrassment.
I am shocked. What level of dark hopelessness Varshaji must have felt, to take her own life!
Varshaji was a sharp political analyst, who with wit and sarcasm could reduce the high and mighty to dust. She tore new sphincters for the commie jhollas with every commentary she wrote, though she also dealt with the lunatic fringe in the VHP with equal ferocity. Ultimately, she was an Indian patriot at heart, whose stood up for India, Indians and Hindus. I salute her courage. May Isvara give her soul the peace she always sought. R.I.P Varshaji.
This is a sad commentary on what the life in the (western) fast lane is bringing us. I am gradually recovering from chronic unipolar depression after suffering for 25 years. Yoga, meditation and ofcourse medications are essential. When you are depressed, there are organic changes in the brain - some areas of the brain actually shrink. There is marked neurotransmitter imbalance. Fortunately, today medications can deal with these and restore physical equilibrium to the brain. But depression is also a psychic ailment - a sort of "spiritual emergency" caused by the imbalance / inadequacy of pranic energy. Then there is light, aroma and color therapy that work for many.
May her soul Rest In Peace. Too sad another very multi-talented life was cut short that too in the prime of her days. My sincerest condolences to her family.
I loved her column in rediff. A couragous and talented journalist with a sharp quill. Will miss her. May her soul rest in peace. -Wing Commander Ravindra Parasnis (Retd)
