Without judging anything I would love if someone can post if he was entirely appointed based on merit and seniority or Govt poked its nose (as always) and tried to use him to take political mileage (as always).

The appointment has gone against all prescribed procedures - four senior and outstanding officers were overlooked for this, as the Congress wanted lapdogs not officers for the job. sad that an organization like the IB, which was not much interfered with is also being messed up. It is not about being hindu or muslim, it is about chossing the best man, and maybe if we ask the organization itself if it was a right decision - the truth will be evident that the posting is a hand out, not on merit.
rather than concentrating on the main task of counter intelligence, IB is reduced to collect political intelligence and manipulation which is a sad commentary on it's functioning.
Hindus in India are increasingly marginalized under the MMS and most of the regional parties. This is leading RSS' political wing BJP to become more fanatics.
1. BJP is unable to fathom that he's one of the best men available to lead IB at this juncture. 2. Why should followers of RSS-BJP ideologies feel India will not be safe under Ibrahim's leadership? 3. Minority phobia seem to have gripped BJP and without much rationale voicing their opposition. 4. India has changed since last 11 years. Hoodwinking of BJP has been revealed...
if a person is capable does it matter which caste creed he belong to. Now we will say first IB chief with tonsilitis ever, then first cheif who belongs to jumruthalaiah etc. Only thing matters for such prestigious post is if the person good for the job. Hope that is the criteria.

I agree with u.Congress however, can't be trusted as it has history of manipulating officers including judges.Who can forget the role of Chawla being exposed by his own boss in EC & AN Ray during emergency who by using his vote in SC declared Emergency valid.
