"Ibrahim's appointment will demonstrate the government's confidence in the professionalism of its intelligence officers, beyond caste, religion and political affiliations." Sheela Bhatt
"According to a retired intelligence official, "Ibrahim has been close to the Congress and used to be known as the trusted officer of the late Madhavrao Scindia [ Images ]. In selecting him, the government has overlooked three officers one year senior to him (in the Indian Police Service)." Sheela Bhat
There is a third aspect Sheela Bhat can not mention; that is of minority appeasement to protect the vote bank, the one and only guaranteed for Congress.

A bold move and a move to instill confidence in the minorities who are languishing for their promotions for being Muslims!Everybody should get a chance!why not Asif Ibrahim??

promotions should be based on performance and skills. this is espcially for critical positions like IB. It hsould not be based on religion. you should be ashamed that he got promotion based on religion( if it is true)
