Not a single day goes by when I dont think why I was born an Indian..from morning to evening, I meet people so illiterate, backward and shallow that i m drawn inwards..Our rural folk r illiterate and unambitious, our middle class is delusional and suffer frm inferiority complex against 1st world and our upper class imagines that all rules r made for them...I m fed up..

There is a saying

"You cannot choose your parents, but you can definitely choose your future."

If each one of us could choose where we wished to take birth, I am sure most of the Indians would not prefer to take birth here. But its not something that is in our control. So best thing that the middle class can do is get ourselves educated and have the necessary skills, and create opportunities for greener pastures...

My dear shrinking violet please don't let us poor Indians embarrass you. Have you tried for US citizenship?

I think your issues stem from personal aspects and have nothing to do with you being born an Indian.

What you state exists in all countries of the world. Perhaps you are a new migrant and have not spent enough time in other countries to realize this.

India is not bad but its politicians and their policies have made it worst and there is too much illiteracy whereas most of the US electorates are literate.

Both the processes are good
by Narayanan Sangameswaran on Nov 07, 2012 10:15 PM  | Hide replies

While US' democracy is mature and fabulous, India's democracy is budding and promising. Few of the most important factors why US' electon process works are the high litracy level of the people, choose candidates based on merits and issues they work for and reject any tainted candidates. In India, politicians use the illiterate major in their favor, manipulates religion, hand out freebies to buy votes. The only way that the Indian democracy can graduate to the next level depends upon its citizens.

American Elections: Just 2 parties are promoted. The debates are a lot of thunder and lightning that signify nothing. Both contenders are funded by the same corporates hedging their bets. The subjects to be debated are decided beforehand and moderated. Mainstream media rakes in the money bombarding the populace with advertisements and has no other interest. Disturbing the status quo is considered stupid. We in India are getting there. A little more "education" and we willbe just like them. Cheers

Indian & US election
by chayan ghosh on Nov 07, 2012 10:08 PM

In India, most words have different meaning. Intellectual means dull, honesty means corrupt practices, Aam admi means (in)human beings used as tool for syphooning off money and election means to become powerful by killing or abduction or arson. Cheers!

Biased article
by siva kumar on Nov 07, 2012 10:00 PM  | Hide replies

There is a tendency to praise evrything American and crticise everything Indian... No doubt the election was peaceful, but it is one of the outdated and foolish election process followed by the "superpower". Mitt Romney wins 2 states more than Obama and still he looses. No EVM's. Still paper ballot.

And it is wrong to find fault with Indian Electorate. Till date all the Election results has been one of the mature and intelligent one. It is only the politicians who misrule.

Siva Kumar. You must be joking. If Indians were so intelligent during voting then India would have been a superpower by now.
EVMs are banned in US elections because of chances of tampering.

Break laws & rules, give/take bribes and then say proudly "We are Indian and we are like this only"
