what is success in a bandh?
by Kabadan Y on May 31, 2012 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

May be partial forced compliance.Nothing can be more farce to our democracy than these so called bandhs by the political parties. It achieves nothing and the people who call this are fully aware that this is to just to enable their cadres to indulge in anti establishment activities. I would rate the response to Anna type of people are a far better way to express opinions with a purpose against the state. Will we ever change?

by Ashok Kumar on May 31, 2012 07:10 PM  | Hide replies

parties like BJP, Shiv Sena & their regional supporters like JDU, SAD & prospective supporter TMC & AIADMK have indulged in antinational act by organising a BANDH resulting in colossal loss. There are civilised methods of protest but will teach them?

if gov cannot raise petrol prices then put 10% additional cess on manufacture of petrol vehicles this cess can be given to oil companies to cover the loss instead of using poor mans money to subsidise petrol for the rich

If they do that the car companies would crib due to increased prices and less new clients. it is better that the public takes the costas they are larger in number. They can still use the public transportation or walk if they want.

unconstitutional
by Prem Selvam on May 31, 2012 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

How is that the ruling party in some states call for bandhs when it is their constitutional right to govern without any hardships to the public they have been court rulings in TN and WB high courts in this regard

it is not constitutional right. it is constitutional duty. Is it always the ruling party that calls for the bandhs? Yes it can be more successful only if you are ruling - that is nothing new.

ok duty not right. if the bandh was successful in states where the ruling party was not in support and no violence was used to enforce it then we can say it was successful
