She is a honest and brave girl and deserve all the applauds. The government as usual won't do anything but the family that owned the ornament could possibly help her in getting employment and education.
I have noticed, people from poor and downtrodden class are more honest than the people from richer classes. In my house, there are two part time servants, a jhaduwali and a bartan safaiwali. But both are honest to the core. On the other hand in my office i have lost expensive pens and mobiles.

look at this another way a poor person, cannot possibly make use of 8 lakhs worth of gold. sell it where? it might create trouble for them. unlwss they are crooks. and honesty does not depend on religion/caste/rich/poor etc it is something unexplainable.
Finally it has become the responsibility of the down trodden of Indian, which the govt has scant regard for to teach a lesson or two on honesty to the dishonest politicians. It would have been a good gesture if the state govt. rewarded her by giving a decent job so that she becomes the role model for many to follow the path of honesty which was prevalent in ancient India before the Mogul and British came in.

Some pvt sector company should come forward and reward her with some training and job. State Govt could only offer her a govt job (which is very unlikely)and she is unfit for govt job because she is so honest.

You are a fool of class one caliber. To start with there is nothing here which say looted. People do hide things in weird places, and some like this person do forget.instead of making useless comments you should salute this rag picker for her honesty. from your comments it seems that if you had found all this you would not have returned and kept it for yourself that is looting indirectly.
