YSR Family
by peelid d on Jun 16, 2012 03:16 AM  | Hide replies

Jagans arrest did bring out another grt leader from YSR family namely Sharmila (Jagans sister). She is largely responsible for YSR congress success in this election. Now congress has to worry about her too inaddition to Jagan. I am sure this brother & sister is going to have bright future in Indian politics and will play significant role in shaping india future.
I am sure folks barking about the corruption hasn't experienced the welfare schemes started by YSR and their impact on rural India. No leader dared to implement the schemes that YSR has done in the history of India and that too against the wishes of Soniaji. The corruption charges are politically motivated and the family will come out clean very soon. Most of us (Andhra folks) knows this fact and choose to vote for his party. I don't think his party would have at so many seats if he is as corrupt as the media is projecting. The family might have used few rules to their favor like any other leader. But it doesn't mean that Jagan is corrupt. Whatever money he earned is his hard earned money and he fully deserves it. Long live & God bless YSR family.

What about bayyaram & Vanpic allotments by YSR... 1,42,000 acres of land taken from farmers so you call it farmer friendly...

Look at the big picture. These projects if executed as planned will create huge employment opportunity for people.
Though I don't have experience with these projects, I do know about another project where farmers are adequately compensated and they are leading better life now. If you ask them about losing their land, they complain a lot but the same people have YSR photo in their prayer rooms. You can't judge based on what they say but rather see the impact of it on their life.

Yes, and your ignorance is epitome of virtue. Totally agree with you. YSR started great schemes, some thing no sane person can ever think of, where revenue and spending or totally screwed, and the money spent has no returns, completely short sighted and emptied the treasury, and without any scope for future development. Then people loke Rosiah had to run to center to ask for more funds, . And Jagan and his supporters have shown light to people of India, that the more corrupt you're the more people will vote for you. And don't be plain corrupt be smart. Earn 1 lakh crore Rs and give the voter 500Rs. Also Jagan is a great entrepreneur he should be invited to Harvard and IIM to teach courses on how to be smartly corrupt, hoodwink people, earn their votes, indulge in criminal activities. A person who sold his house before 2004 to survive earned 73 crore in white money in 5 years and another 300 crores in next 2 years. Not even Warren buffet, Bill Gates, or George Soros has that abilities, why not after all he has educated, brain dead supporters like you. Anna hazare you can please go home, whom are you sacrificing you health for ? These people who do not care for your sacrifice, look how corrupt they are. Congress and TDP you're no less, but this guy has proven to be smarter than you all and shown all of India how to live in future. Start LOOTing

Not sure why you take this discussion to personal level. I expressed what I saw in rural AP and the people feelings there. I am only passing their opinion here. Don't shoot the messenger. I do understand that irrigation scheme ran into challenges but my comments are about welfare schemes, not about infrastructure projects. Hope you understand the difference.
Whats wrong with some one making money in 4 years. Haven't you seen people making Multi billions by taking one company to public. This guy have multiple companies in the core infrastructure like construction.

The irrigation schemes were to fool people. Will any sane person agree for Lift irrigation ?Tthe economics plainly does not work. YSR fooled people by laying foundations for non-workable schemes, and in the process of making money by kickbacks. None of these projects were supposed to be completed. On welfare schemes - Argyosri is bankrupt, govt. treasury does not have money to fund all the people who want to avail. Many people rich and poor sure got benefited, but now the scheme cannot scale with existing resources as it was not properly planned. Scholarships to poor students - they're still awaiting for them for last 9 months as govt. ran out of money. All these schemes were launched to just win next round of elections, not to benefit people, which was a by product. The private hospitals which benefited from Argyosri contributed heavily to Congress, YSR re-election campaign. All political parties are corrupt, but what Jagan did beyond anyone's imagination.

And you have expressed what you saw in rural India - thanks for highlighting the corrupt mindset of Indians, which is why we were slaves for 1000 years, we do not have a backbone to fight bad actions, but we slavishly welcome money and muscle power however bad it may be, and bend backwards and crawl. This mindset which rules India could not vote against Libya when majority of the Libyans were fighting the evil dictator Gaddafi. Jagan's election is nothing but an affirmation of this weak and corrupt mindset.

I think we, Indians, always have -ve attitude and try to find issues using magnifying glasses rather then look at both Pros and Cons before judging. You may agree to disagree but the reality is that the welfare programs made a difference in people life. I know few kids with life threatening issues and Arogyshre coming to their rescue.
Providing support for weaker section of the society is one of the key responsibility of the govt. YSR govt did provide this when rest of the parties keep talking about technology innovations. There is nothing wrong if people vote and support those who believe in helping the needy. Their minds are as pure as any other intelectual.

Nobody is passing a judgment on the YSR govt. Like every other govt. he tried to do some good, which benefitedsome. Also indulged in bad policies which emptied the treasury. But, in addition he indulged in brazen and unseen levels of nepotism and crystallized, fortified the rut of corruption, which by the way was institutionalized under Congress leader India Gandhi. But what is YSRs legacy - is called the king of corruption. Technology innovation got around 2 lakh jobs created in AP and got sustained revenue stream. Corruption by anyone is not condoned. If people vote for this kind of corrupt, feudal, and criminal leaders thinking that they help poor people then the poor are fooling themselves, as now the govt. does not have money to sustain the same schemes which were started for their benefit, and its not too late its just been 2 years. Remember - Nothing comes for free, it is an illusion. Leave hair spillting apart, tribal land was given to daughter and son-in-law as though it was their private property. The state of the society is that an actor who shot bullets at his producer and seen his house gatekeeper murdered is now honored and invited as chief guest in the country and around the world. Congress leader whose son killed his business partner, got son scot free without any penalty of the law, and now is a leader of the party - by the way in both these cases the CM was YSR.

Law grinds the poor, and rich men rule the law. -- Oliver Goldsmith

There is nothing wrong in people earning money. Sure, pls go ahead, but do in a proper way, not by indulging in corruption and taking land away from poor farmers (VANPIC) and tribals (Byyarram). Do you really think that Sakshi has so much potential in an over-saturated media market to have valuation like that of APPLE or GOOGLE, if one thinks so - then none can help. How did he get all his money. YSR sold his house before 2004 in posh Banjara hills. Does it make sense ? that now he has more than 500 crores in white and many thousands of crores in black. If he is such a great entrepreneur then please ask him to trade his secrets, now that he is an elected representative.

No doubt CBI is a very discredited orgamization due to repeated interference by successive govt for their own selfish means, but whatever is happening with Jagan is in the right diirection, we should only hope that it is taken to proper end, not used as a stick to bargain for power as done with Mulayam and Mayawati and others. India is becoming a nation of 5000 feudal lords. People are the ultimate loosers. The state of the army is in shatters, please read what Gen Singh wrote to PM.

Do I need to remind you about the Stock back dating scandal in Apple. Does it make Steve Jobs corrupt CEO and we should never ever talk about greatness? The point is there is always exploitation and it is inherent in the society. Don't think we can call it as corruption and to some extant paying money in return to a favor is some thing the society is slowly accepting by giving different names to it like lobbying, fund rising dinners etc. If some one is forced to pay money to get what is deserves rightfully and a timely manner, I consider that as corruption. Try to get a birth certificate from a govt office without paying anyone. You will understand what I mean by this. This is the issue we all need to fight against. I hope people like Anna will soon take-up this issues rather than targeting people who return favors for money.

US is more corrupt than India, theories are created to institutionalize and leaglize corruption, watch 'Inside Job', but despite of corruption their is an inherent interest in the society to do good, which was developed over the years. Teddy Roosevelt fought the robber barons of the gilded age. So pls do not even compare stock option back dating or the current financial meltdown, where not a single banker is in jail, so leave it aside. Yes, exploitation is inherent in society, and thats why laws have to be created and implemented, if not the world would have been still in dark ages, and despite that it will never be perfect, it is only a human dream, but still an effort. By the way fund raising and lobbying is legal, and those who break the law as Jack Abramoff go to jail. Have you seen anyone going to jail in India. Poor Bangaru laxman is probably the first politician to be punished by courts to go to jail for 1 lakh rupees, what a fool was he. People who break the law should not be condoned otherwise where will you draw the line, and who gives them the authority, and specifically those who indulge in looting of public resources, if not there will be anarchy, and back to the feudal ages. This is the freedom fight of our generation, the choice is our to be on which side.

boss, this is a form of entertainment. you must have heard of "begaani shaadi mein abdulla deewana". I don't think people care about it as much.. they just celebrate because the person they voted for. It does not matter if its gonna harm them more or less because it is certain when faced with Hobson's choice they're going to lose either way.
