First visit New Delhi Railway Station
by Rahul Kumar on Jun 05, 2012 02:26 PM  | Hide replies

Delhi being a capital of India, in railway station police man & TTE are standing on the entrance point on the 1st floor to check the platform tickets. If someone is caught without ticket then it is a balle-balle for them. You have to cough up money otherwise they say that you have to give 300 rupees fine. So it is better if you pay 100 rupees and come out. Even I have done this. Why cannot they instal systems like the metro station entry point?? Everywhere there is corruption..If you wan to breathe on an Indian soil you have to be corrupt..

You yourself participated in Corruption. You did a mistake and subsequently instead of paying fine colluded with the TTE, gave him 100 Rs. and ate the remaining 200 Rs., which actually you owed to the Government as penalty. Corruption is there because as an average Indian we ourselves are corrupt. How many of us seek bill while buying any product, most of us don't do so, because the shopkeeper tells us that the cost of product with bill will be higher as VAT will be applied over the cost.

Congress should allocate percentage for any work done by any official . so that corruption becomes legalized.

Rather close the shop of government. It is a useless machine which eats a lot but delivers little. We are now a mature nation with competitive industry with global presenmce. The government would do well with just setting up regulatory authorities like TRAI and grievance redressal mechanisms. Strengthen consumer courts and focus on ensuring speedy investigations and justice. For example, the governmenmt is folishly wasting its time and our money (perhaps in collusion with private airlines) dealing with AIR INDIA. Instead, in areas where private sector is not willing to put their money, the government should adopt the process of reverse auction i.e. it should allocate routes to airlines which are ready to operate at minimum subsidy. I think it is going to be quite effective in curbing corruption. Moreover, with regard to corruption in police forces, online filing of FIRs may be allowed on a predetermined downloadable format. This may save victim from lots of harassment at the hands of police and ensure proper compliance as well. The police will also not be able to tamper with the facts of the case which is the commonnest reason for delayed justice. This will also reduce time between an event and registration of the FIR. All the evidence can be attached with the FIR. Other modus operandi may be worked out.

Agree with you. Good idea. But, the problem is after this opening up, currupt will still look at hidden amounts so that they can save on the taxes.

I really like the idea of an official bribe rate with 15% cut for the useless government. Atleast it will remove discrepancies in the bribe rates and bring transparency across the country.
