largesse
by girish s on Jul 03, 2012 06:45 PM  | Hide replies

does rediff or for that matter, akhilesh, know the meaning of largesse?? largesse is when you show exceptional charity or assistance with your 'own' funds/resources....not by squandering away wealth that does not belong to you in the first place. this is loot, not largesse!

Austerity
by niladri mohanty on Jul 03, 2012 06:10 PM  | Hide replies

This is called real austerity. Propagated by the Congress party and put into practice by Samajwadi party who shout from house top their concern for aam admi. Without bragging I want to humbly state something on a personal note. In 1982 a few months after I joined a newly formed public sector enterprise which has now become a Nava Ratna company , a circular was received from the controlling ministry that personnel of the rank of general manager and above can air travel in executive class which had been just introduced.I had come from a multinational company and yet I refused to avail the privilege because I felt that we are building a new company and should save every pie to make it profitable which it later became. My colleagues immediately proudly availed executive class travel but joy was short lived as the Govt. of India realised the folly and withdrew privilege. In a poor country austerity has to be self actualised and our politicians who claim to be the only patriots should think of the poor while spending their money collected in the form of tax.

Public care based

Akhilesh , Better to think once again and do give this as an incentive to your legislators but it should be development/public care of that area based.More and more legislators work towards it and you will find a heavy support from Public as well.

True colours
by Jaganniwas Iyer on Jul 03, 2012 05:24 PM

While the Opposition BJP and BSP have rightly opposed the Samajwadi supremo's baba's freebies to dole out people's money to his fellow politicians - quite a few of who are undisguised thugs - the state Congress spokesman Pramod Tiwarti's mealy-mouthed 'criticism' and none-too camouflaged endorsement of the state ruling party's blatant proposal to fatten itself at the expense of the state exchequer (i.e., people's money) shows the Congress' true colours!

This is ridiculous show of authority and unchecked power
by swami pudipeddi on Jul 03, 2012 05:22 PM  | Hide replies

In a poor country like ours, the representatives of people need not live in pomp and show. The Reva electric car or nano car should be provided so that the expenditure on commuting can be brought down and the saved money can be spent on development activities or for the welfare of the poorer sections of the people. Are our peoples' representatives are so poor to seek a vehicle at the depreciated value when they are capable of spending crores of rupees to be in the election fray and get elected? People should shout at such largess.
