Women should support women
by sajith das on Dec 31, 2012 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

I travel a lot. Only on rare occasions that I saw women aiding another one. Most common are about pregnant or women carrying babies, in most cases males vacate their seats as soon as they saw them and women turn their head away. On one occasion while traveling in a bus my mother who was in her mid 60’s was abused by another woman for allowing a teenage boy to sit near her. That boy is less than half my age. My mother and I reacted to her comments ferociously which made her to remain silent.

Exactly. you are right. Without Good Men, Women (Good/Bad) cannot survive.

These people are talking as if the whole Indian men are on the raping spree.

Sonu Nigam said it best in Times Of India today --

"North Indian boys have a different mindset. If I'd lived there longer, maybe I would've become like that, too. They must be taught to respect women. They feel every woman will satisfy their hunger. Punishment is important, but education is far more important."

Indian girls, women, ladies,

Please take all the precautions you can to stay as far as possible from north Indian animals!

They only want one thing from you!

What the changes in law may achieve in the future is uncertain but it is always better to be safe than sorry!

So you agree with Sonu!

Your best response to this reality is mocking a South India actor and his fan base?!

my instant reply would have been different but you made write it because you started with generalisation of a particular sect of people . why don't you stop the blame game. well i presume you are aware of the rape stats in south thus even they are animals . a one who does rape need not be from north or south but are animals.

i did go through the content of the article but it's rediff opinion but not declared by the goverment , but i do agree perhaps it's delhi and UP where every now and then girl's gets raped but you will find good people also . however they definately deserve very stringent punishment , personally i would prefer kind of sharia law for people like them (whoever commints this sin).

Dude, you really expect Govt of INdia to declare a state as a rape capital. You northy's really have no brains or what?

First, you kept protesting that north is not the rape capital and that there is no such ranking and that the other poster is just making it up. Then he goes and gets you published new articles about UP Delhi being rape capital. so after that you are protesting again that those rankings are by the media, you would rather have an official government gazette published to declare the rape capital of india. If he goes and gets something like that, you will then come back again and protest that you want the UN to declare North India as the rape capital of the world.

Why dont you people stop raping instead of demanding new proof about your raping cabailities?

Bollywood is totally responsible for irreparably damaging and ruining the image of Indian women!

From item songs that become soundtracks for harassment to titillating rape scenes, Bollywood has made a lot of money at the expense of Indian women!

Bollywood is controlled by Punjabi people who have a horrifying record of mistreating women!

Every Bollywood movie has a Punjabi song which sounds like a rapists preferred tune!

Please don’t make this a regional issue. We are human beings. All of us have pros and cons. I am from Kerala. In spite of high literacy and social awareness, similar incidents happen here too. Only difference is that it’s not common as it is in many other parts of the country, might be due to the influence of media who attach police and government whenever such things happen. Yes, generally hindi movies project women as only a sex object (exemptions are there). Old generations were influenced by books and newspapers but new generation blindly follows movies. Their world exits only in Internet, cricket and movies (I am not undermining the positive role of these sectors, eg. Social media’s role in current protests) Nowadays how many movies are there where women are presented as someone who deserves respect and sanctity?

How many more Lion hearts does a country need?
by L Tixeira on Dec 31, 2012 09:56 AM  | Hide replies

Each and very rape victim is a Lionheart, when she has the will to live & fight on after being raped. How many more are required till the mighty politicians see the need to make the judicial system more robust. These crimes continue due to lack of deterrence. Low conviction and cases taking years to reach conclusion & insignificant amount of punishment are the causes why these issues reoccur.

Please do introspect
by Venugopal Reddy on Dec 31, 2012 09:52 AM

Dear author,
Please do introspect on the fact that why men (and women) have morally degraded in the present day society. Please do it seriously, and you will come face-to-face with the root cause. Then, sketch out an action plan, and let that action plan begin from YOU.

This is not a one-day victory, because, this is the problem existing from centuries, and we need to wage a long-term war.

Regards,
Venu

Title of this article really does not go with the content , either you are amateur or was very emotional while writing this article which lead to stereotyping and generalisation of men . there are also men who are fighting for that girl or dont even think for a minute to give away his life for saving a girl. i am not denying that it's always or mostly a girl who faces such crimes but pointing all men is wrong . it's not only the mentality or external factors which lead to such crimes but also loopholes in our system. it's not the time to play blame game but to look out for solutions . frankly this article has no meaning apart from you blaming all men .

we can pontificate for ever, but things will not change unless adam changes his outlook. One in school was taught earlier that any woman should be respected as your mother or sister. (to day minority refuses to say VANDE MATARAM. This song is equal in status to Janagana mana. Panditji in his hurry to please one, refused to accept this marching song as national anthem. Time we woke up to protect our women. Perhaps TV and films are to blame for regularly depicting rapoe scenes, while not bold enough to show a kissing scene! V Ramanathan village rengasamudram

Here comes the role of the "Spritual Leaders: the Morari Bapus, The Asharamjibapus, the Ravishankars they should start giving their discourses going to slums, organise with the panchayats & try to clean the thoughts because these crimes are dominant in this segment of the society largely they may not receive hefty sum for this but that will be true salutation to the departed soul.
