Execution order by Panchayat?
by Pramod Sharma on Dec 04, 2012 01:18 PM

Do Panchayats have the authority to order execution. If yes, then do we need courts? Why was she not given a chance to appeal? Are Panchayats equivalent to Supreme Court whose orders are final and binding? Definitely not. And, in that case, what is there to investigate? A murder has been committed and the Police must immediately arrest the killers without delay. Just like honour killings, such cases need to be highlighted and justice done.

Blatant Murdering of a social activist muslim lady
by kathakali bagchi on Dec 04, 2012 01:16 PM

Hi! I feel pained and shamed both at the same time - everyone has `seen it' (her public killing) and yet the police is `only investigating' it and not being able to arrest a single person - does this not sound similar and quite a norm in Indian police as a whole (apololgy to some but very rare gutsy ones who get pushed aside for taking stands).

India is 4th most dangerous place in the world for women.
It is only a little better than war-ravaged Afghanistan and Congo.

No one should spared , punish all those who had committed that crime , people had no right to punish any one.
