CAG

Excuse me, but I think that CAG is making a mistake since in every deal they find a fault. The prices at the time of allotment may be correct, but if you correlate with the present prices, it is a blunder. Three years back I sold my flat for Rs.32 lacs when it was marketed for around 29 to 30 lacs but today you cannot get the same for Rs.55 lacs. Have I made a mistake? N.

Coal scam: BJP leaders blame it on Dr Singh

These are all political decisions taking into account the various attendant factors in the larger interest of development. BJP should concentrate on illegal mining, cash for bail, cash for vote, cash for parliament questions, disproportionate wealth cases hanging for years and like.

Satya Vyas
P.M. the direct beneficiary
by Satya Vyas on Aug 18, 2012 08:57 AM

Different situations warrant different policies. NDA used the first come first serve policy in allocation of spectrum as at that time the sector was in nascent state, investment requirements were huge with high risks and only a few operators were ready to commit. In UPA II the situation had changed dramatically.Everybody was aware of huge potential, spectrum and other natural resources were drawing huge premiums in grey market and huge profits were being made by sale of licensees by allottees. Huge profits were obvious to ALL. Now, all agencies of the Government recommended auction route, which was correct. However, UPA discarding all sane advice, decided to go by the same old policy as it gave them opportunity to oblige a select few. It would be naive to believe, in today’s world, that the operators and miners were obliged free without any quid pro quo. Some allottees immediately sold the licenses making huge profits. The money such made must have been shared with ministers who support P.M. Is it not corruption? Did he not connive at it?Was he not a direct beneficiary (cash/kind)? The logic of generation of power at reasonable rates, too, is flawed. The pvt. sector is involved to reduce cost by increasing efficiency. If the cost of power is still high due to auction process, the same could be subsidized from funds generated through auction and as a result 'ALL' the really needy people would have benefited, not just a SELECT FEW, who made billions out of it.Shame.....

by Edward Teller on Aug 18, 2012 08:55 AM

BJP is the main culprit and crying foul now.
by vijay patel on Aug 18, 2012 06:19 AM  | Hide replies

BJP and other state goverment ruled by Oppostion are the main culprit.

First BJP and oppositon ruled state Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Orissa, West Bengal and Jhakrkand write to goverment not to Auction.

Then they recommed the people who should be given licences and forward it to Steering Commitee, in which they sit and then allocate the licence to those people. Finally they blame Prime Minister that he being in charge of coal ministries should be reponsible for the allotment.

Strange are the ways the opposition and BJP operates.

Bassed on this we want to remove the most honest Prime Minister India ever had. That is politics in India

If BJP ruled state govts recommended loss making proposal, why should your most honest PM on earth accept it?

It is time the UNO crowned our PM the most inefficient leader ever on earth and UPA the most dishonest ever. Atleast it will be a solace in the backdrop of our country not winning medals in olympics.
