This ICBM will be a feather in india's cap. It definetly gives deterrent against any loose threats /actions by our enmies. we should perfect the messile technology so that our security concerns gets addressed. chinese people are basically friendly with indians. The government of china should try to become friendly with india rather than pakistan.Tibet issue gets solved of chinese take give and take attitude towards tibetans Our so called border issue should be kept in cold storage by chinese as they get no benifit out this snow clad region. For indians it is religious issue and by allowing free movement of people( both buddists os either coutry and hindus to these areas nothing will be lost . It is always better to keep the border issue between two countries in clod storage

India can only grow by tackling its internal enemy the corruption.
Now corupt people supported by Govt is kept under check by IT freedom india citizen litterate people have.
India withtout Media / IT freedom is AGNI5 without any BOMB.
so read here, this is a serious independence threat :
rediff . com / news / special / rajya-sabha-to-consider-repealing-kapil-sibals-it-rules-special / 20120419 . htm
Unlike India is trying to make hypes on China, the Chinese do not care much about India because they acquire Agni V technology and similiar range in mid-1960s. In India, everything seems preset for China, and if without China, this country and its leaders are dying. Is it over paranoid?? If India is not publicly and viciously labeling China as attacking target, nobody will really care about India or even Agni. India and its leaders should learn to keep friendly, and let me remind readers here, if China is really intentional in a sudden attack on New Delhi, China does not necessarily need to use its super-tech or sophisticated arms like inter-continental ballistic missiles, a 500-km missiles from its borders are far sufficient to achieve military goals. India is no place to challenge China or its people, please trust and do good for both nations. The irresponsible Indian media may trigger the first gunshot between two countries and it's nothing to do with democracy or not.

Actually, it was the idiotic impression of the Nehru govt. and its advisers that the Chinese could be matched militarily that led to the rout of 1962 !!
There are a lot of books written by military scholars on this !

but how this idea has come that ,this ballastic missile is meant as a deterrent to china? Its chinese meadi and diplomat only who are talking about arma race and other nonsense
You test missiles to show your technical prowess and your capability as a nation. India should have in its arsenal all the major stuff - 11000 km missiles, SLBM, star-wars capabilities, advanced satellites, aircraft carriers - everything to match its economic growth. If India wants to be at par with the other 5 permanent members of the security council, then India should have the technology and just not the economy to match them.
Re: Why are we making this look like China is the target?

Yes, of course !
And all the while, India should also continue to have the stuxpidest commoners in the world who think that big time corruption, development and true growth in military strength can go hand in hand !!
