Congress ploy to avoid Janlokpal bill and discussion on inflation
by s d on Nov 30, 2011 07:32 PM

It is obvious from the relaxed way the Congress MLAs are sitting in loksabha and Rajyasabha, smiling at each other while the opposition is shouting sloagans, that it is a Congress ploy not to let the houses work. By this way, they can run away from discussions on inflation and JanLokpal bill.

Why?
by Prem Mohan on Nov 30, 2011 07:14 PM  | Hide replies

If we don't need Carrefour, Tesco and Walmart, then why is the retail sector in India in such bad shape? How will we overcome food wastage? How will we ensure that the farmer and consumer are fairly treated? At the moment, the farmer is paid Rs 4/kg for vegetables that are sole to the consumer for Rs 40/kg.

Farmers in Australia are paid 2 cents for 1 KG potato and consumers pay 2$ (200cents). So same proportion Indian farmers will get after FDI.

Tactics to deplay Janlokpal
by Rahul Mahurkar on Nov 30, 2011 06:09 PM

Congress knew about the outcome of this decision. They have done it so that they can easily blame the opposition for not passing the Janlokpal bill. Mind it ppl will never forgive these cheaters.

Do Not understand the political drama of Opposition
by Thomas Kurian on Nov 30, 2011 03:50 PM  | Hide replies

As elaborated by PM,if it becomes practical, it is going to benefit the common man. If the foreign retailers can give at a lesser price than their indian counterparts, why the people can't accept it. In that case, the losers will be the bosses of indian retailers as their profit will decline and others are not going to suffer because of this. It appears from the crocodile tears of Opposition that they have accepted something from these bosses of indian retailers to safeguard their interest in the sector. If you analyse it in right way in light of the statement of PM, the decision of foreign investment of retail sector in india is going to benefit the common man and if this come true and experience the benefit by public, then the next time also they will vote for CONGRESS, which opposition parties do not want to prefer.

Dear Mr. Kurian,
Do you remember the good old soft drinks "Gold Spot", "Campa Cola" etc. Coke & Pepsi has taken over all of them. Even "Thums Up" is not the same old one, but is a product of Pepsi. How come then indian retailers will survive? Govt is nowhere trying to improve the situation of logistics/warehousing etc to help our agri sector, but only wishing that due to outside competition, everyone will start innovation and suddenly market will be competitive and everyone will gain. Its not so easy.. think abt it

Nobody forced the consumers who were also Indians to forego Gold spot and campa cola, when pepsi and coke came to town. They perished while Thumbs up survived as a brand. that shows quality survives. And why should the consumer continue to pay for sometihng useless when there is a better option available? Is the retailer alone whose interests the govt. should look at? why not the producer and consumers who get more options than these fat tax chors!

Parle sold Thums Up to Coca Cola for a very good price. Campa Cola was a terrible drink in any case. If you are so aggreived, why don't you stop drinking Coke and Pepsi? Why don't you persuade others also?
