re church involvement in Koodankalam
by Guest on Nov 10, 2011 11:21 PM  | Hide replies

People are so fast in blaming the Church authorities for supporting the anti-nulcear protests and cooking up stories about foreign funds. More foreign funds are being spent trying to force nuclear plants on India by foreign countries than vice versa. It is interesting to note how Catholic priests are being looked down upon for protecting their people from a possible Fukushima accident expecially as Koodankalam lies bang on a well-known Tsunami zone. These same people who make fun and deride the catholics are the FIRST to send their children only to Catholic schools and Colleges as they know with what excellent dedication and efficiency the Catholics teach
their students. It is with this same dedication and sacrifice that the Catholic Church is trying to educate people and save them from the dangers of nuclear power energy, it's extremely high costs of operation, it's higher costs of dismantling after 60 years and it's never-ending costs of nuclear waste isolation from contaminating the environment and the high security costs of keeping this deadly plutonium based waste away from terrorists. JOIN THE ANTI-NUCLEAR PROTESTS AND SAVE OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY FROM THE DANGERS OF NUCLEAR POWER!

that is because , it is a open door for catholic church for opening a school or college but.. govt policy..

Here that is not a matter.. being a educated priest he should have to take a tour to kalpakam where we have operating reactors that withstood last tsunami cyclone ect.. and speak to the people

instead bringing nuns, school chidran ect and asking them to protest is not good

Mixing Science / Technology with Religion!
by K One on Nov 10, 2011 11:15 PM  | Hide replies

well, it's said history repeats itself!....Not very long ago, the secularists of our nation used to say, one should not mix politics with religion .....and it's anybody's guess, why on earth they are all silent now, that, these very guardians of church (in & around Kudankulam) are mixing science / technology with religion and openly fueling anti-nuke (and certainly anti-national by all means!)stir! What has happened to our secular nation? why are we all silent on this issue...Whether Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is safe or not, it is none of their purview to decide, since state appointed committees are already on the job. The way the self appointed guardinas of the villagers, speak sarcasitically, scorning even an eminent scientist like Dr. Kalam, is disgusting, to say the least. And take it, this is all happening right under the nose of state & central government and nobody dares to verify the source of funding, as alleged openly in many sections of the media.Where're our secularists / intellectuals / conscience keepers gone ?

Wy Shri Shri is conducting Yatra
by Act First on Nov 10, 2011 11:00 PM  | Hide replies

I don't understand the motive of this article. If a locality/community faces life or death situation, its the duty of these people whether its Church or temple to react. Else why we need church or temple? Only to loot people?

Then why nobody has any problem with Shri Shri's corruption yatra in UP. Why he is active? Why Ramdev is active?

So, rediff plaese don't post these articles which polarises people. You may have ur motives. But don't use innocent people lives for Rediff's buisiness.

There are various theories revolving around the evolution of Aryans. Theosphical society and Hitler were specialisng it. Some theologists say that it is not the creation whereas it is a re-creation of the world that is mentioned in the Bible

When we have developed a capacity to manufacture 700 Mw PHWR, why Govt. has gone in for 1000MW new type of reactors from foreign countries? More over one Russian nuclear scientist said that the PHWR design is one of the safest reactors and Chernobyl disaster could have been avoided if Russia had adopted PHWR design. The UPA Govt., particularly the PM did not consider the safety aspect of the reactor and cost aspect of the plant. Manmohan Singh has derailed the long term nuclear policy followed by previous Govts . in the name of power security through nuclear energy using imported uranium fuel only to help foreign countries.
