Fear of the Unknown!!!
by joshua on Nov 10, 2011 08:51 PM  | Hide replies

India, as a developing nation with more than 1 Billion (100 Crore) people needs the immediate solutions for the cost effective and scalable energy systems. The Nuclear Energy is one of the best suitable technologies for the same. The authorities have assured the best safety systems are in place for this plant. I feel that this is just the FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN for the common man. Government should take steps to educate them regarding this technology and the safety systems employed to safeguard the common man who lives in the outskirts of this plant. Also government should deal strongly and crush the trouble makers who have the vested interests in creating and spreading such agitations, against the national interest. If the safety of the people is the ONLY reason behind this agitation, then they should FIRST start the agitation against the motor vehicles. ( In the year 2010 ALONE, more than 12 Lakh people have lost their life in the motor vehicle accidents, worldwide. Whereas; if you take the maximum count of the same in the Nuclear Plant related accidents, it will not be more than 12 Thousand in the last 50 years of the nuclear energy plant operation history, worldwide). But we all know that we will not be able to live a normal life without the use of the motor vehicles in this world. Similarly, we need to effectively use, Nuclear Energy Plants with the maximum safety systems for our huge energy requirements. Jai Hind.

'inducing' fear
by Ajith Blr on Nov 10, 2011 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

countries like france, Sweden has more nuclear plants per populated areas than any other country. Energy starving states such as Tamil Nadu is much in need of nuclear power, sources such as solar wont produce energy in such large scale. As Dr Kalam rightly pointed all entities should stay away from 'inducing' fear. The ignorance of people about the safety of the plant can be annulled through proper education

Also its regretable that the catholic church in kerala is involved in anti social nuances such as 'encouraging couples to have many children' , besides 'Honouring families ' having more than 4 wards. In an overpopulated country like India this sounds anti national

IT IS TOO LATE TO PREVENT KOODANKULAM PROJET AFTER SPENDING 13,000 CRORE ON THIS PROJECT.ALL THESE MONIES WERE PAID BY US AS IT AND OTHER TAXES. IF THESE PEOPLE REALLY INTERESTED THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE OPPOSESED DURING THE 80'S ITSELF. WHETHER IT IS GOOD OR BAD IT IS TO BE ALLOWED TO START THE GENERATION AT THE EARLIEST. WE ARE HAVING NO OTHER SOURCE OTHER THAN NULEAR POWER. LET THESE PEOPLE REALISE THE REAL SITUATION AND ALLOW THE PLANT TO RUN SMOOTHLY.
