out of 100 people only 1 to 10 people have strong opinion ...rest 90% will go with who can influence more...

giving too much space to seperatetist in the name of freedom of speech is a deadly mistake and sadly India is habitual of it

Let go of the federal system?
by prem k on Nov 01, 2011 11:34 PM  | Hide replies

Many comments below think that the problem in India is only due to federal structure. And they tend to think that making a country out of each state would solve the problem. Some even go on to say practically infeasible things like having a country for each of the 17000 castes in the country. Forget the fact that each country would be smaller than vatican city, the real problem is who has patience to enter into such a complicated negotiation. How can you uproot your neighbors just because they belong to a different caste or religion. Or would you be fine if the place your house comes under becomes the country of a different caste or religion? Creation of one pakistan itself was so messy, creation of 17000 countries would be madness.

Also, if we create countries out of states, it wont work too. The next step after giving power to these smaller states would begin the fight among castes and religions within those state. For example in AP, muslims will demand a separate state for themselves, so will reddys, naidus, kammas and so on. The situation would turn even more messy when there will be support for such movements from neighboring states. Imagine kerala xians fueling TN xians to demand a separate state or AP reddys pushing the karnataka reddys for the same. It will be the problem in pretty much every state and we could be resembling africa. The composition of south asia, particularly India, is like an example to the world - learn to cohabit - there is no other choice.

well said man ! After all, even a family consists of people with different opinions and it is the mutual love and adjustment that helps in a peaceful leaving. I think government should focus on building the moral ethics and pointing out these to the people rather than heeding to the demands all the time that will only complicate the complicated and unique fabric we are as India.

The government MUST educate all to feel INDIANS first.Instead of confining to personal gains, elected representatives MUST work for the people utilizing the fund provided.Social education, fulfilling of basic necessities of all will alone reduce wrong thinking. We say, all are equal,NOT in reality.Every citizen should be provided equal level of everything at-least till they reach 12 years of age.Time will change everything for good.

why? Many in north-east feel they are not Indians'
by nitmohan on Nov 01, 2011 11:19 PM

INDIA has been reeling under 50 years of misrule by the CONGRESS Party governments, and now the UPA again. With rampant corruption in the COUNTRY, governance has taken a back seat and criminals are calling the shots. There are no new power plants.

Now, under the CONGRESS, public sector companies are being sold to private sector at throwaway prices. There is a total lack of governance, with no law and order in the COUNTRY. People are fed up of caste, communalism and corruption in politics. This is the right opportunity for the BAHUJAN SAMAJ PARTY to stage a major comeback.

I am confident that if we select candidates properly and have a targeted election campaign, we can make it. We are aiming to form the government.

BAHUT. SUNDAR. PARTY.
