Ram Setu remarks by Karuna
by Patriot on May 17, 2011 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

In response to Sethusamudram controversy, Karunanidhi questioned the existence of the Hindu God Rama. He asked:

Some say there was a person over 17 lakh years ago. His name was Rama. Do not touch the bridge (Ramar Sethu) constructed by him. Who is this Rama? From which engineering college did he graduate? Is there any proof for this?[25]

His remarks caused a firestorm of controversy. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad accused Karunanidhi of religious discrimination when noting "We would like to know from Karunanidhi if he would make a similar statement against religious head of any other religion; chance are he may not."[26]

Nationalist Congress Party spokesman D. P. Tripathi said, "Where is the need of asking for evidence on the existence of Ram when lots of people have unreserved faith in him?"[27]

In response to these statements, Karunanidhi defiantly stated, "Anyway, neither Valmiki nor Ram is here now [to vouch for claims of Ram's existence]. There is only a group that thinks of people as fools. They will be proved wrong."[27]

Several days later, he commented:

I have not said anything more than Valmiki, who authored Ramayana. Valmiki had even stated that Rama was a drunkard. Have I said so? [28]

Sure, but Jaya was the one who arrested Jayendra Sarawati of sankara madam. You idiots will never learn, will you. Karunanidhi writes, Jayalalitha beats you with a stick, but what do you do? you know the answer

while Jaya arrested Jayendra, she doesn't question the existence of Hindu religion and its God.

Also Karuna said the above words only because dredging money for the project was 10000 crores, allocated...but his ministers could not lay hands on it because of the SC stay.

Can u imagine someone who has been 5 times CM for a state...most elderly statesman...speaking so low about Hindu religion and God anywhere in India? Only he can do it because it all about MONEY for him not even ideology.

He has sold his Tamil ideology long back and contested elections happily while Prabha was being killed in Lanka

Not sure of the impact of LTTE being eliminated OR Prabhakaran being killed.. i strongly believe, most TN political parties have USED the tamil cause in lanka only as a vote gathering mechanism.. not any action or real involvement through indian deplomatic channels etc..

It is called freedom of speech, people wrote back 100s of articles against that. So thats it, move along dont talk like a pakistani. But Jaya arrests a Hindu leader for no reason, and nobody gives a hoot. No wonder I am guessing she was your caste.

Karunanidhi did not lose elections because of this. He may have lost hundred voters, but he may also have gained 100 voters. The above may be facts but in my opinion, this would have not imapcted the electoral outcome

he didn't lose election because of this but this shows how lowly character he is...go back to his 50 years in politics and see if he uttered one word against muslims or christian religion...will he dare?

An early indication of what kind of a politician Karunanidhi will develop into came after a bye-election that the DMK won against the ruling Congress in the 1950s. Party leaders who had contributed the most to the victory had assembled at the celebrations hoping Anna would praise their hard work.

To their horror, however, Anna presented a gold ring to Karunanidhi, who had played only a peripheral role, and lavishly praised him. Stunned, the leaders asked Anna in private to explain. He told them Karunanidhi had paid for the ring himself and had given it to him the previous night, requesting that the ring be presented to him at the ceremony. “You pay for the jewels and I will present them to you too,” Anna added.

Tamil people need job and not free TV or mixy
every free scheme has cut to local party officials
today people donot go for work in lower income group. they have become lazy . particularly construction workers.educated engineers migrate to other state to find job. this situation should be reversed to bring prosperity to tamil nadu
