DMK failed in highlighting their achievements
by Soderling on May 15, 2011 02:50 PM  | Hide replies

The problem with the DMK was they were unable to propogate well their achievements which the English Media and vernicular media completely boycotted. All that was highlighted was the corruption and nepotism in Karunanidhi family which was true. But, what about the alternative in Tamil Nadu ? Are Jayalalitha and Sasikala saints ?

What is this one rupees and 10 rupees Sir ? Do you know the Mining scam in Karnataka fostered by Yeduriappa and gang is even bigger than the 2G scam in total value ?? Do you know the assets of Jagan Mohan reddy climbed from just 9 crores to 400 crores in a matter of two years. Do you know the assets owned by Sasikala and Jayalalitha and the land grabs they have indulged in. See everyone is one and the same. Even if Jayalalitha had the opportunity, her cotorie would have swindled Telecom given the nascent rules set in for auction.

Hopefully something will be done to these corrupt folks too... But, looks like hard hitting on Karuna family is started. Once the half-blind man's daughter is put in Tihar jail, very soon the spot-light will be on his Sons!

You are too naive to believe that corruption would go off in this country just by jailing Kanimozhi. Realize that corruption is in the blood of every Indian.

Maybe in yours which is why you defend all the corrupt and quote Yeddy's corruptness to justify the others.
Think, Kumarasamy and Deve Gowda who grabbed land left right and centre in Bangalore and bribed and forged and looted and even after being thrown out by the people, tried to break the BJP by throwing some money and using the Congi henchman who acts as the governor.
The reality is that we are forced to choose the lesser evil which definitely is Jaya for now. Karuna and family are despicable in that he set the tone for all the senior members of his party to emulate in all districts, grabbing land and flaunting their concubines.
Get real like the people of TN who have shown Karuna the door and elected Jaya not because they like her but it shows the disgust of people with Karuna's brand of dirty, communal and casteist politics. He supported every corrupt person from the judge Dinakaran to ex-CJ to Raja trying to play the Dalit card. Now he has paid for it as people have seen through his game.

Glittering achievements of DMK Government
by Soderling on May 15, 2011 02:41 PM  | Hide replies

In Chennai,
Marina beautification.
Adyar Creek Eco Park
The Botanical park in Cathedral Road
Many parks built at prominent landmarks all over the City.
The number of flyovers, intersections, bridges and subways.
The Desalination water project
The Kotturpuram Library - one of the best in Asia
Metro rail project easing traffic congestion
Despite all these, in Chennai the party got just 2 seats out of 16.

MK and party were the government of TamilNadu not just Chennai. Go see Madurai, Kovai, and other cities. Very bad power situation. Tirupur mills are shutting down.
Chennai was developed so that they could loot more of the revenue that it generated.
What did Maran do in his capacity as Textile Minister for the dyeing and "dying" units of Tirupur which were closed down by the pollution control board????
Who cares about Chennai? Farmers are going bankrupt as the land grabbing schemes of Karuna and family followed by his cunning ministers has reduced them to penury.
Plus this old fraud promoted the TASMAC actively and kept arresting the toddy tapping of poor farmers. To top it all he dared to have a mega bash at Kovai and blew his own trumpet literally spitting in the face of the working class of Coimbatore and surrounding areas.

Which Politician is not corrupt in this country ? If you are going to vote for corruption, then the alternative definitely is not Jayalalitha of all. That being said, can you deny the above achievements of DMK reign. Nobody can deny that they did something to the State.

Most of these (parks / libraries) are not achievements, these are very basic administrative actions. And, some (Metro / Desalination) are central schemes.

Soderling MAMA,
When MGR was alive, Karuna was treated as a rag picker. At that time u DMK thieves proclaimed that Urbanites (Chennai) vote for DMK, as if Karuna was a scholar. Now, that thief along with his son stalin had run away from chennai to other rural areas hoping that people were fools.
Now what about the intelligent chennai voter. Mine it...

The action for DML party leaders
by Desh Premi on May 15, 2011 02:39 PM

Other leaders of the party should expel Karunanidhi, Stalin , Azhagiri and Kanimozhi from DMK . It is only the greed of one family and their arrogance which has brought such humiliation and shame to the party founded by Annadurai. Only because of this family even good leaders like Anbhazagan got defeated. I hope the DMK cadres wake up to reality.

Celebration day for TN!!!
by Anand SP on May 15, 2011 02:39 PM

May 16 is an auspicious day and Narasimma Jayanthi is being celebrated on this day. People of TN have one more reason to rejoice and celebrate as J is going to assume charge as CM. This is a great development for the state and country as well.

As Lord Narasimma came down to slay the wicked Hiranyakasipu, J has drowned the dreaded virus(MK) and saved the state and country from further damage. Let us hope that DMK would never ever come back to power in TN.

Auto Fares in chennai ?
by JAGANATH S on May 15, 2011 02:35 PM  | Hide replies

I have a suggestion to bring down the auto menace in T N.
It is high time the govt starts its own auto wing with about 10000 properly metered autos for chennai with a lease basis for honest liscence holders. the fares should be what is in Mumbai and the culture should be also the same if not better. This provide employment to 10000 drivers and will create a strong competition with other autos in chennai who refuse to accept any kind of a normal operatons.

This may cost the goverment around 100 crores for the time being , which will be recovered in no time but will surely put the entire network into a pucca system since public will totally reject the current auto network , hope this reaches the right mind, authorities and govt, in particular Madam J J- thank you

A comprehensive solution rather than arbitrarily lowering fares of autos will not work realising how the petrol prices have gone up! The solution is easier said than done. It will have to be part of holistic cleanup... which needs to be done at national level starting from the fake gandhi family.
