CPM is the party with largest number of seats. Let Governor maintain constitutional propriety and call the leader of CPM to form the government.

IF the same party is telling that, they need not want to form the govt. Both the party secretary and ex CM said so!!

yes ramesh chennithala wit a slender majority of less than 3000 votes already itching to occupy cm's post. wat a morality!! Without the blind communally sponsored minds of muslim league supporters and some latin catholics in ernakulam, the udf would have been looking down the barrel in this election. Else no sensible person could have voted for an idiot like kunjalikkutty.
The udf was never able to trigger anti incumbency trend nor were they able to raise any serious allegation against the ruling govt in the last 5 years. Infact it was the opposite here, the results of some of them like balakrishna pillai are lying in poojapura and viyur jails

For the congress :
(1) In Assam retained power for the third time
(2) In kerala now in to rule after a tight fight.
(3) In Bengal, in the ruling allinace now.
(4) Lost in puducherry.

For the CPM
(1) Lost power in kerala
(2) In bengal, total wipe off!!!

So who is really upset?

except in assam can congress take any credit for other victories. their allaince with dmk failed horribly in tamil nadu. all knows it is the 2g spectrum and other cases of humongous corruption that helped the aiadmk to completely annihilate the dmk.
Then pls dont tell me that congress had any role in bengal where trinamool won!! they had even struggled to get a victory for their leader pranab mukherjee from bengal for many years.
And ofcourse in kerala, people with sense will understand who the real winner is and how much communally biased section contributed in udf victory. Yes, its an udf victory not congress though!! the congress didnt even win a single seat in some 3 or 4 districts and could only muster 38 seats compared to the 47 of cpi (m). Even in assam though congress won, they are ill famous there for corruption which is the common trait for congress and congress supported allies

Skillful Corrupt
by jfu on May 14, 2011 10:39 AM

People didn't like the Left Front due to lack of development and poor governance; that is the reason congress-led UDF came to power.

Oomen Chandy is corrupt... He has diverted the Tsunami relief fund to help himself and his constituency which has no ocean front.

Oomen chandy is a schemer and corrupt, and so is his protege Ramesh chennithala is corrupt too. Together, they both diverted two crores from the election campaign fund.

Its interesting times ahead in kerala politics
by Rajan S on May 14, 2011 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

VS Achutanandan and his ministry id remarkably well during their tenure and that is why people still voted for them though they are the incumbent govt and made them win 68 seats. UDF victory happened only bcoz of their partner indian union muslim league who won almost 20 seats in a total of 72. Else udf would have faced even more embarassment.
We cannot infact treat muslim league votes as genuine as always they play communal card in malappuram where muslims population forms a huge majority. Else how can one sensible person vote for kunjalikkutty who has been accused in innumerable sex scandals, the famous of that being the ice cream scandal case. Its not at all just another allegation as it is clearly evident for the people here that he is indeed the villain in the case
The major party in the UDF,the congress won only 38 seats where as the CPI(M),the leader of LDF won 47 seats and became the single largest party. It is indeed a very very rare trend in kerala that an incumbent govt gets close to majority. The struggle of the congress who has just gained the majority by a mere 2 seats, is yet to come. They will have to sweat a lot to please their fellow members in their own front, the UDF.
Normally it is the oppositon who alleges corruption in the ruling govt, but for the past 5 years it has been the opp here.It is interesting times ahead in kerala politics. So people can easily find an alternative entertainment option, after the likely exit of kochi tuskers kerala from IPL

Only Soniaji can take India out of the present rot. She alone has the courage, wisdom, attitude & ability to guide India to Superpower status by 2025. Rahulji is being groomed perfectly under her guidance & is bound to be the biggest icon of yourth of all times.
It is time Soniaji assumes PM ship of India, Rahulji as Dy. PM & Priyankaji as HM.
Oldies in BJP can take a call & merge their party with the 125 years old congress party.

Soniaji, big-hearted that she is, will perhaps throw tid-bits to the oldies.- Do you agree to this ?

CONGRESS VICTORY
by john kannattu on May 14, 2011 10:10 AM  | Hide replies

The victory margin of congress is very less and highly disturbing. The point here is that people are not convinced of Congress because of its corrupt history, otherwise it would not have been for the gimmicks of Achuthanandan to corner so many votes. Achuthanandan did nothing during his 5 years, the growth happended due to the flow of money from Gulf and other states. It was not at all Government driven growth like many other states. But still the people not opted for congress that is because of small time leaders like Ramesh Chennithala wanted to fly on helicopters for election campaign. No local leader in Kerala ever rode Helicopter in Kerala for political campaigning except outside leaders. Another thing was Mr.Balakrishnapillai's jail term for corruption and even chandy's name being dragged by his own party men in corruption case has helped Achuthanandan to win these seats. Achu exploited these issues fully to his advantage. Even CPM is not owning any credit for this victory. Congress has to learn a lot with this result.

@ Rajan S.
Absolutely wrong! after the set backs in loksabha and panchayath elections, in the end of the tenure, CPM took icecream issue to the front! thats the one and only reason for this slide in votes for UDF! Though it affected the UDF, it also benefitted the sympathy from Muslims which gave 20 seats for ML. Other than that, the CPM rule was a total disaster, no significant changes, price rice (after blaming the centre always), political divisions, partiality of police... these are to remembered! not the double edged harthal for endosulfan!!!

It is not the cpi(m) who took the ice cream case, mind u. it was rauf, kunjalikkutty's brother in law who took up the case, becoz of the rift between the two which resulted fear in rauf's mind of a backlash from kunjalikuty if he becomes the minister.
And in balakrishna pillai case, it was the supreme court who took up the case at this juncture and deservedly put him under bars. U may still claim that it was cpim who instigated rauf to put kunajlikutty on the defense, then what about balakrishna pillai? u cannot close ur eyes and say that it is dark outside. So get ur facts right mr raj tanuja

Introspection...
by PS Sreekumar on May 14, 2011 10:04 AM

Oommen Chandi could not claim credit for this victory... When VS at the end of the fifth year tried some gimmicks with the help of the media, even he spoke against endosulfan in the fifth year, when it was banned in kerala some 8-10 years before! If the Chief Minister is sincere to the endosulfan victims, he could have take necessary steps to ensure the ban in the first four years itself. Same is the case of icecream! Nothing has happened in Kiliroor too... Moonnar demolition started and ended soon... the only thing is that he hyped things before the media... OOmmen chandy could do one thing, as the leader of UDF, atleast to tell Kunjalikkutty not to contest the elections! that could definitely help UDF atleast 10 seats in additional. These things clearly says one thing, neither oommenchandy nor VS have the capability to rule according to the wishes of the public. VS succeeded in creating hype and oommenchandy (and Ramesh Chennithala too) just sit idle. the victory was because people needed an alternative!!!

Lessons on Hiding Useless ness from VS performance
by outspoken on May 14, 2011 08:43 AM  | Hide replies

Chandy must copy VS Achutanandan who was a big zero in terms of performance and deivery but every time came with home made skits that were well rehearsed and fooled people. Jusk keep talking of pesticides, global recession, Osama bin Laden, Somalia pirates and the effect on Kerala culture and kerala model. Also do one or two fasting in front of Raj Bhavan or Secretariat. Also change your body language-while talking keep licking the lips and observed one miniute deliberate silence; hen start outbursts against corruption and turn deaf as VS do when pressmen ask against own binami corruption going on in household by son, daughter and a favourite advisor and ex military nephews.

Acutanandan gets young when pilice brief about the lurid details of ice cream scandal. So ask for police officials who can brief about sex scandals so that old nerves get young again.

If possible Use a Video of Achutanandan and practise it daily. That way

If VS had got the support of the party he could have acheived more. He aired his visison in the above cases and he couldm't get the support of his party since his party leadership had a vested interest in the above matters. So you have to rethink before blaming him.

Poor political analysers. UDF won only because of Malappuram votes. Average and neutral people still voted for LDF. UDF got all communal votes.. muslim, christian and nair. Read newspapers and post poll surveys. Even during pre poll surveys, many UDF people.. around 10 percent admitted that they are happy with LDF administration. This result is actually an LDF victory. Kunjalikkutty and others will rape kerala soon. Beware NRI fellows. You have sisters and mothers living here

Yes exactly and the votes for iuml cannot be count as genuine bcoz they will only vote for them come what may. there has been only a very few exceptions for that over the past 55 years of kerala politics and even to do that they need a strong muslim canditate in the oppositon ranks
Otherwise how can a sensible person vote for kunjalikkutty alias kannalikutty!!

Is this a victory? just one seat more than the absolute majority!... and that too with the help of allies who won in more than 35 seats.

It was a shame for sonia and rahul gandhi when there wasn’t even hundred people gathered for their election conventions and meetings. The number of leaders on the stage was more than the followers. Thousands of empty seats itself was an indication of their non acceptance in the state.
People were watching the extravaganza of the state congress leaders who were using helicopters for campaigning in a small state like kerala. The leaders also thought that people will neglect the corruption done by the central government. The deeds of the congress themselves surpassed the anti-incumbency factor asif there isn’t any anti incumbency at all.
