The single most important question that the Americans will have to ask themselves is to what extent they can trust the Pakistanis? The first thing needed for the Americans is to put the US-Pak war on terror alliance in proper perspective in the background of the recent Osama experience. Next they must stop all types of military aid to Pakistan forthwith. Third, they have to calibrate suitably the Afghan approach keeping in mind that all the rouge al-Qaida/Taliban elements are still roaming free inside Pakistan and in the region. They must find ways to cut the umbilical cord of all these terror groups with the Pak army. Last but not the least is to contain any likelihood of these rouge elements getting their hands to radioactive material for use in crude explosive devices.
