Mumbai
by raghavajd on Mar 12, 2011 06:09 PM  | Hide replies

Mumbai is the most dangerous place as far as the earth quake proneness is concerned. I am no geophysicist but I read this report some time ago. They say, Mumbai exists on a fault and a sedimentary rock ( supposedly the weakest ) base. The report said that Mumbai was saved just because there were Earth quakes in Latur and Bhuj. They released the tectonic pressure off.

Like Los Angeles, Mumbai is sitting on a disaster. I think about it every day cos I live in Mumbai and I have invested.

i know this is not the place to air this, but i have no one else to say this to. Have decided after 2 years of marriage that I'm going to go ahead and divorce my wife. We love each other a lot but she was never much into the physical part of the relationship. I have been patient but now its over. I'm gonna let her know tomorrow morning when she wake's up. ITS OVER. MARRIAGE IS SO OVERRATED!!

India, beware of Nuclear Safety
by Joseph Purathur on Mar 12, 2011 05:38 PM  | Hide replies

India is being 'persuaded' by nuclear powers who are interested in selling nuclear plants to India and benefit billions of dollars from nuclear commerce. India should take extra care, in view of the Japanese incident of nuclear plant explosion' to select the right technology, and the right location to set up the plants, if at all necessary. Earth-quake prone areas should necessarily be avoided.

I reckon India should take care to shield itself against ignorance regarding issues like this. Inspite of a 8.9 scale earthquake, and 7.5 scale aftershocks, buildings and skyscrapers have stayed intact. The reactor in question has not gone into meltdown, and the blast posed no danger to the main reactor fuel containment. India should learn from the Japanese people on how to manage a disaster of such scale.

Are you ready to agree that India wants to get rid of Kerala ? You will get fked by the Portuguese in TWO DAYS. All your back waters, Kottakkal Aryavydyashalas are gone in no time. Instead of ONAM , you will celebrate the naciemento del padre. Fkin brainless bastrd.

Three options are:

1) Immediately reduce population to about one twentieth of present.
2) Stop almost all economic activity.
3) Go for nuclear power in a very big way (maybe at risk of many nuclear accidents per annum).

There is no other option for mankind today.

Not even sure where rediff gets news like this from. The plant operator has already confirmed there was no damage to the container of the reactor. The level of radiation fell after the first round of containment. Rediff should stick to sensationalism, mindless celebrity gossip and fashion. Leave serious and authentic reporting to the reliable new agencies.

Reactor explodes, Japan issues nuclear alert
by Purushottam Singi on Mar 12, 2011 05:25 PM

Nuclear power is always fraught with envoirnmental disater. UPA I government was unnecessarily carreird by euphasm of 'clean and green power' through nulear reactors.
It has been trying to supress protestat Jaitapur (Maharshtra) through police brutuality, but would not care for health and safety of citizens affected in such situation.
Till today Bhopal gas victims are suffering and awaiting a just care.
We must contain our power needs by not apeing the West blindly. In last decade our power consumption has gone up due to a lot of power being consumed by illuminating advertisements, illuminating buildingsfor no particular reasons, leaving shops lit after shuttering down. All these habits are wastage of non renewable natural resources thus depreiving one generation without power in future.
WE MUST SAVE POWER BY ADOPTING GOOD USE PRACTICES.
