Nuke Pakistan before they do that
by jaggu on Mar 14, 2011 06:38 AM

Pak with 110 nukes can inflict irreparable damage on India - so that even the seconfd tike capabiliy will be fruitless. It is better to live with challenges and stigma than to not live.

Good idea
by Abhik RayChaudhury on Mar 08, 2011 09:27 PM

Bringing soldiers into the equation is a good idea for the reasons stated here. Politicians have been 'trying' to solve the pak problem for long, failing completely. Politicians and their secretaries (many promoted unfairly to high ranks including the current secretary)do not have the brain or brawn to deal with the situation. It has been proved aagain and again. Pak military is the ruler of the country and this is why last year President Obama met with Zardari AND Kayani officially, while the protocol calls for meeting with only Zardari. Obama broke the rule for obvious reason and no eyebrows were raised.

Impractical advice
by vikas sethi on Mar 08, 2011 06:48 PM

The advice forwarded by the author is neither new nor practical. But he needs to write articles to earn his livelihood.

As indicated in his article at the height of Kargil the DGMO's met & sorted out things they wanted to. So when the Pak army wants, it can engage and sort out matters - the key word is when it WANTS TO.

In order to maintain its hold on Pak, their army needs to maintain a devil it can refer to when things are not going well for them much like a parent who keeps frightening its child of a devil who will come. Whenever it can, it uses this so called devil called India. Also, somewhere it has a resentment towards the Indian Army that humbled it in all wars.

On the other hand, to avoid world pressure, India too maintains a facade of talks with Pak. India knows nothing will come out of it as the real power is with the Pak army but is willing to engage with Paki politicians to keep the channels of communications open and to have a handle in case things spiral out of control.

So the tamasha goes on without any tension on the border.

I personally feel it is not right for the Indian Army to get directly involved in the talks with Pak army. It makes no sense. Atleast our army today is vigilant bcos it knows there is an enemy across thee border. We do not want it to lower their guard and have a repeat of Hindi Chini bhai bhai.

Indo-Pak Talks!
by vinod issar on Mar 08, 2011 03:08 PM

Author has thrown up a very sane/sensible idea/advice.Indian political leadership should take this count.
Our Indian civil servants/bureaucrats are heavily loaded with ego and hence are not pragmatic.
In our neighbouring country, even though there is an elected govt.but is the army which call the shots.

Yes, in PAK, army has big say, whenever democrats cross the limit of spoilage or adopts undemocratic means, they interfere, whereas our politiians have divided the country in such manner, that army/para military forces are just impotent before them.

Dont glorify your misfortunes. Politicians the world over are out to amass wealth, be they elected reps. or army dictators. Remember democracy with all its limitations is a far better bet than any other system of governance. Do give democracy time to mature and learn to live with less competent politicians. they represent the will of the masses and are afraid of their voting power. But armed forces dont represent the will of the nation. Come out of the shell and learn from what is happening in rest of the world.
