We dont have right to kill anyone - What a joke
by guruji on Mar 07, 2011 11:46 AM

We do not take care of people who are old even if they are able to walk and do things on their own. That is the present state of affairs. And you have a person, who is almost in as good as a vegetable with no movement, etc. Will the government with the public prosecutor as guardian take care of her? It all looks good to talk about right to life and we do not have the right to take another life. Good morals. But is this practical. The decisions have to be taken by the govt on a case to case basis, rather than giving judgements which could become law and which will in turn be misused. No one wants to even imagine the efforts it takes to take care of sick people young or old.

Aruna Shanbaug - Sc verdict

The Apex court could have considered this as a rarest of rare cases and granted mercy killing
as "justice " to Aruna. Even after 37 years, nobody appears to be showing " MERCY " to her. What if the Govt's counsel and the honourable SC Judges had to live such a " LIFE " Is it life. ?? Maybe they all should read the Bible, Bhagvadgeetha, and Quoran and other holy scriptures. Where ever is it mentioned that ONE should NOT show mercy to a fellow brethren ??? I believe, the Govt's Counsel and the honourable Judges may be feeling that this incident will be quoted and misused by others for personal " Gains " . Like, for example, a kin ( Brother, sister, father or mother or sons/Daughters ) might misuse the " facility " to " Knock off " some close kin citing that mercy killing is best for their kin. No doubt the properties and money, if any , left, after treatment, can be theirs ! Or they will be " RID " of a big botheration. The Apex court and the Govt. Counsel might have feared that this will open the flood gates to massive petitions for " mercy killings " I admire Ms PINKY VIRANI for her relentless efforts in this case. May her tribe increase !

SC rejects mercy killing plea

The Supreme court while upholding the right to liberty and life is right, so far as life exists in the remains of miserable condition of Aruna. The court it seems is pointing at the act to be performed to end her life,in what way? Whether to administer lethal medicine then ethically medical fraternity would ask as to whose instance? If it were withdrawal of life support still the same question. The depleting body mechanism would have taken the toll by now. Here the court believes her body mechanism still wants to live.It is now almighty God's wish alone which will decide her mortal existence.

On what basis does the court believe that her body mechanism still wants to live ? The judgment is purely based on the fact that approving mercy killing in this case might open a Pandora's box of many such cases in the pipeline which would be too much for the court to handle. So for sake of convenience the court has denied it. One look at teh pitiable condition of Aruna will definitely moisten the eyes of any human. This is a tragedy of justice.

Just like Jessica Lall can we all readers request SC to review the decision for justice to Aruna who do not Know things that has happened in last 37 years and will happen in coming days as physically & mentally she is almost immobile. God should really bless her. A prayer for SC.

this is no justice. Is it not 30yrs enough to justify there has been no iota of chance to get recovered? Then why one has to be left at the mercy of God to end the unbearable miseries of one's life that too which was imposed. This case has every merit but law reader needs to have compassion to see it.
