Intolerances is shared by extremists from all religions.

My position is simple. Homosexuality is a sin, just like gambling, alcoholism etc. But these are my religious beliefs.

And I have not authority to impose my beliefs on others. What two consenting adults decide to do is none of my business.

it is a sin and sin it stands. Not just religious it is a social sin-evil. Tolerence makes u docile to accept sin and u cannot be a party to sin under the garb of liberal views..i am saying why dont u fight first for education and working-freedom to muslim women be4 u take up defense for homosexuality......look to improve society imran..do not contaminate in the name of non interference and tolerance. If ur neighbour house is on fire, u will say it is not yr business.....

Legislating sins does not make them disappear.

Prostitution is ILLEGAL. We all know how that is working.

People like you think that writing laws solve problem. I am sorry, but you are mistaken. We are trying to ban corruption...I am sure that will work !!!

There is no substitute to moral education at family level.

I know you are concerned about society as well. However, our approach is quite different. You believe in the intervention of government. I do not.

My wife and I do not watch TV, unless it is educational and can be shared with our kids. I try my best to do the right things and impart that to my children, relatives and others.

If my neighbours house is on fire, I will jump to his help. If he beats up his wife, I will call the police. But if he indulges in homosexuality, I will advise him to stay away from it.

I hope you can understand that.

Making things illegal do not make it disappear.

And let us be very honest. India is not a morally superior nation compared to others. We have rampant corruption, sexual harrassment, etc...all sheding light on a moral decay that we are in denial of.

The solution to bring back those morals in our next generations is education.

amazing forum for homophobes

looking at the hate mails below, i am somehow not surprised that indians are so homophobic and bigoted in general. i guess there is a long way for us indians to go before we can truly be counted as among the civilized society. But in a society where women are considered just machines to breed and have fun, children brought into this world with no purpose other than to fulfil social and societal obligations, one cannot expect anything more than what we see around us. It is a shame, and i shall pray that someday indians are able to put their education to good use instead of just hoarding wealth.

Dear Aditya,
Just because people do not agree with this lifestyle does NOT make them bigots or homophobes.

I believe homosexuality is a SIN and I find it disgusting.

But what conscenting adults choose to do is none of my business.

I don't endorse it behaviour but I do not want government to criminalize it either. It is like alcohol for me. I stay away from it but if others want to indulge, I do not care.

Cooking a frog
by Guru Tugginmypudha on Jul 25, 2011 12:50 PM  | Hide replies

If you put a frog in hot water it will jump out immediately, but if you heat the pot slowly it will accept the temp change and get fully cooked.

if you allow homsexuality to get in society, the disease will engulf all, so stop it at the inital stage.

So here is a list of other things that we must ban...

- Alcohhol
- Smoking
- TV serials
- Most of bollywood...
- Guktahs
- Lottery, etc (It is an endless list).

When do we allow individuals to make choices for themselves ? and then face the consequences of those choices.

nation and society is more important than an individual, anything detrimental to society needs to be put down irrespective of personal rights. societal rights prevail over personal rights.

imran, illegal elements do exist in all societies, jsut because they exist does not mean society legalizes their existence and thats insanity.

you a muslim and thats good, the little i know of islam is that it does protect society at large and thats the reason fro alcohol being forbidden in islam.

Congrats to the gay community!
by MD on Jul 25, 2011 12:47 PM

As a straight man, I am thrilled that gay marriages are legalized! They are gay and I am happy. :)

For one, I am not a religious nut. Even if I were a right-wing nut, I would let God, if he exists, deal with sinners. That is not my problem, especially since Mr God has left numerous other real-world problems for me to deal with.

So given that I am a straight single non-religious man, I have every reason to be celebrating. Why? Most of the best looking men in the world are gay or bi. They are my dating competitors. Many of the lesbian women I have met are too masculine for my tastes. Legalizing gay marriages would get my toughest competitors out of the race for the women I am attracted to. I would be a moron to complain! Gay marriage only benefits me.

Seriously, give up the BS about unnatural sex. Go read up about the 3000 species that are known to have gay sex. Read about bonobos. Gayness is as natural as your brown skin.

To those ignorami who complain that more people will become gay with legalization, nobody becomes gay after they are born. Either you are already gay or you are not.

And that brings me to the most important point - if you oppose gay people, you suffer from a psychological affliction called internalized homophobia. It implies that you are gay, but your sub-conscious mind rises up in opposition as a self-defense mechanism to deny and repress your gay feelings. In short, you oppose gay people only if you are a closeted bigoted gay person.

Why should we decide what is acceptable ? Why are we concerned about what conscenting adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms?

just like deciding what is a sin or not depends on what ones saints and prophets preach, let us also accept that whatever homosexuality is cannot be judged by the prism of religion. just becoz u believe it is a sin does not make it a sin or unnatural. its what we have all been brainwashed into believing. lets leave this discussion to that.

Goood points Aditya. Somehow you seem to have a very biased opinion against all Indians. Actually you must know that in India is most tolerant and acceptable society - can you imagine you can freely criticise God and still live in the country unlike in many other countries (especially the three Abrahamic relgions)? There are bigots in every society so don't paint the whole nation as good/bad.

The reason for opposition from some people is because they think the social order breaks down - it is the same idea that makes them oppose inter-caste marriages, women employment etc. There is certainly truth to that argument (you can analyze it deeply). I still don't see why gays/lesbos crave for marriage? If they want to have a live-in, thats fine. Why bring marriage which has some vows and rites involving man and womn into this whole picture? It is all for legal issues, nothing else. So perhaps for soothing the conservative conscience they should perhaps invent a new ritual and call it something else other than marriage.
