by Patriot on Feb 20, 2011 10:23 AM

no long term plan for state's growth,All centre's plan duped under MK's name , Lot of freebies given to fool people. Family politics, corruption done by ministers. No agri growth,No support for MSI/SSI industries. People made drunkard, this govt is running by pure support of center and its aid to the state. Hence TN people mustvote for biggest opposition party which is AIADMK and other factions shld support JJ to come to power. who can (JJ) only control this MK & his family crooks....Think people think.. We need a firm goverment which can take care abt growth NOT family growth.

If Everything Normal...DMK will lose this Election.
by revikumar vasudevan on Feb 20, 2011 08:57 AM

If Everything Normal...DMK will lose this Election. A new political equation will form in TN. Congress may get 2 to 3 seat. DMK may slipt after election.

May be Jaya will become CM, but she cann't dictate terms as before. Another party will be there to control her. The people of TN will give a strong hint that they started thinking above Cinema when it comes to politics.

He has lost his clout..
by Michael Angelo on Feb 20, 2011 07:04 AM  | Hide replies

Vijaykanth has lost his clout. He did play a part in AIDMK losing a few seats. Main reason for DMK winning Lok Sabha elections was the work done by the DMK Govt. for the masses of TN. DMK provided free colour TV, free gas etc. Vijayakanth managed to split the AIDMK vote and maybe won a few seats for DMK. The main factor was free colour TV, and free LPG. This time Karunanidhi has promised free houses for poor. It was expected to be massive victory for DMK. But the Raja factor could make them lose in urban areas. But in rural areas DMK is trying very hard to project Raja as a martyr who tried to make cell phones accessible for all sections of society and not just the rich. That is the main deciding factor of the election. Can DMK successfuly potray Raja as a martyr in the rural areas? That not Vijayakanth is the deciding factor.

Amateur CNN-IBN Journalist spewing venom against Indians - Irresponsible CNN-IBN journalist sagarika ghose calling indian men ugly - Indian TV media in recent months has been showing biased reports and paid news to favor the corrupt ruling party. Citizens and media watchdogs who question them often get abused and blocked. We have to raise voice against biased reporting. Google Search "Biased and Racist Journalism" and check the first link to understand how some journalists are fooling the nations. Spread the word please.

Re: Why this craze for cinema idols

hema malini, amitabh bachchan, rajesh khanna, shabana azmi, govinda, etc., have all been MPs due to the craze of people. none of them were elected from tamilnadu.

the difference in tn is that actors who want to get into politics are great organizers who build a party at the grassroots level using their reach as actors. again, this reach is NOT the glamor factor although that exists to some extent but simply their hard work in terms of setting up a district office. ntr realized this skill of tamil actors and learnt it from mgr who was his mentor.

another point is that it is better to be crazy about some actor and vote for the actor than vote for the idiots of the nehru family or for laloo yadav.

It is not completely true. There are a lot of Cinema personalities who have failed in TN. Many of the film personalities who have succeeded have strong political capabilities ( I am not saying that they are good !).. By no means can you classify Jayalalitha as a film personality alone -- in any case look at it this way - North and Western India have elected several film personalities who are miserable politicians -- eg. Amitabh Bachan, Jaya Bachan, Jayaprada, Sunil Dutt, Govinda, Hemamalini, Shatrugan Sinha, Raj Babbar, Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Rajesh Khanna, Bhupen Hazarika, .... I think that many people in North India underestimate the film personalities of the south - by no means can you simply dismiss NTR as just a film personality!
