The last nuclear test was named 'Buddha smile'. i really dont understand why they came up with such a sacred name for sick things like nuclear bomb. no wonder whole west was angry at us and they put economic ban. i m not opposed to test, but name was totally unfair.

It was evidently clear later that the sanctions did not impact us too much. So countries removed the sanctions themselves, so much for them in the first place.
All Indian governments have mistakenly been led to believe that support for nuclear arsenal tantamounts to patriotism. No political party has opposed or even questioned the worth of nuclear ambition.
Successive Indian governments have spent $50b of taxpayer money in the past 50 years on nuclear research and arsenal build-up. This could have been used to double crop yields and improve infrastructure.

if you invested the money in the infrastructure only the politician has taken 50% money in their pocket. We are Nuclear state otherwise do you think that China will handle the Arunachal, Tibet, Dalailam in india issue in a soft way? They must have occupied Arunachal, Himachal and Sikkim etc., Don't think our money is wasted.

Yes, but unfortunately Nuclear arsenal is a necessary evil. Evil but also NECESSARY. But regardless, doubling th eyield of crops is a myth.

Get your facts right sir... Today Gujrat is the topmost state in the country. I am not a GUjrati.. but yeh they have taken it over from Maharashtra and Andhra or Kerala.

N-Power is very helpful for India as it will help solve the problems of Fuel, power etc as Nuclear power is cheaper and Environment savvy . The LEFT and BJP being a Communist Party, will always be crying like a baby saying "They sold our country to the U.S." etc. But they dont even know what is this Nuke Deal all about. They wont even know the full form of IAEA.

SO AFTER INVESTING 1,00,000 CRORE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY BASED ON FUEL SUPPLY THEN THE US PRESIDENT IN SAY NEXT 8 - 10 YEARS DECIDED TO STOP FUEL , IS YOUR GRANDFATHER GOING TO PAY FOR POWER AND LOSS OF INVESTED RESOURCES ?

Firstly, there was no implosion. It was an explosion. The author (you mean the interviewee) was the head of the nuclear programme at the time; it's likely that he knows. Indeed, AB Vajpayee has not since come out and refuted any of this, and neither has the BJP. If it were a lie, don't you think the BJP would raise the roof?
It's amazing that someone who can't even spell properly, appears to have little understanding of the topic and seems incapable of putting together an articulate sentence, has the hubris to criticize such a person as a "misplaced child" (whatever that means).

Narisimha Rao and Vajpayee were the weakest prime ministers of India. Poor Vajpayee, the TDP on one side and DMK the other made him dance according to their tunes. The coalition politics makes the PM weak. If the PM dont adhere to their demands then they issue threats of pulling down the govt. People of India should give clear mandate to either BJP or the Congress. After this the one party concerned should be held responsible for all the evils it has created rather than in coalition politics of pointing fingers to each other and none is penalised.
