Right of Property being denied by Indira was a blunder
by Ram R on Feb 07, 2011 01:19 PM

For a democratic Country right of property was removed from Fundamental right. It was biggest blunder by Indira. Today more than 1 Cr-ore cases are pending in Courts due to abolition of this act. Now you buy property by spending your life saving, but it will not be safe, any goon can come and grab it. Go to court and fight your whole life to get case solved. Meantime goon will enjoy your property. Only option is pay him some money (20 to 30% of cost) and beg him to vacate it. Lot of guys have job of middle man to get property vacated by making deals. All this is creeping corruption and lawlessness in mind of all Indians, Courtesy Congress stupid Govt. I definitely appreciate effort of UID,if it can resolve the issue of property disputes.

UID Cards for All Indian politicians
by srinath rajendran on Feb 07, 2011 01:14 PM

First all the Indian politicians must be issued UID Cards and all their Transaction must be captured like what is done by CIBIL( Credit Information Bureau) to the Ordinary Indian People when they are applying for loans or credit cards.

Prior talking of UID the government has to be very specific in its roll about how are they going the handle the intruded pak and bangladeshi through various mode in every state, which indeed is very serious threat for the country and to every state. Are these bangladeshi, pakistani holding any visa to enter in Indian soil. The CM of every state seems to be dozing on this issue. This issue needs to be taken very serious prior to UID.

UID

I am a law abiding citizen. I welcome the idea of UID. I have nothing to fear if anyone has access to it. I have nothing to fear. In fact UID would replace requirements like PAN, Address Proof, ID proof etc. = vishwanathan

I agree with Vishnathan. Why to be afraid of any such disclosure. Yes, those who are doing all antisocial activity, they are seeing their pants slipping.

A Scam and a Subversion of Our Rights
by Shaunak on Feb 07, 2011 12:44 PM

The criticism is spot on. There are two possible scenarios: (1) The UID project fails: The faiure will cost the citizens several billion dollars, most of which will be siphoned off by the politician-bureaucrat evil axis. However, this is a better scenario than the next one. (2) UID is successfully implemented. The politician-bureaucrat evil axis will still cream billions AND India will turn into a police state where your all your financial / legal / medical records could be called at the press of a key by any a*hole with a government title.
Under the name of security / prevention of infiltration the government is cynically using technology not to improve the effciency of its services but to enhance its control over the affairs of the citizens. Nandan Nilekani was a diabolical choice to lead this initiative, for he is the poster boy of Indian middle classes with his IIT education and billion-dollar net worth (it is of no consequence that he is just a glorified body shopper who benefitted from the imbalances in global currency valuations). This invasive, repressive scam must be stopped at all costs.

Why exactly
by Batao Na on Feb 07, 2011 12:24 PM

Can this Bozo tell Why Ration card , Passport , Driving License , Voter Card , PAN etc not an assault on federal structure ?

UID is needed mostly by law abiding tax paying citizen to save themselves from Xenophobic Zeliots.
Latest example is in Karnatak where diktat is issued to Gas agencies to cancel connection to those who do not submit Ration Card or Electricity Bill.
This act totally ignore lakhs of middle class families who stay in rented accommodation thus do not have electricity meter in their name and unable to stand in Q bribe and get ration card simply because they do not need free doles from PDS.

Why not Tax receipts , Passports and bank passbook be accepted for continuing gas connection ?

UID is there to save from whims and fancies of these local officials who want to hasrass and trouble law abiding tax payers.

These human right activists are paid agents of anti India forces
by pradeep agarwal on Feb 07, 2011 12:23 PM

Can this so called activist question the homeland security of US that has similar system to prevent illegal immigrants to enter the country? It has worked for US & can do wonders for India as well unless those who are needlessly worried more for illegal immigrants from across our border than homeland security.

Lets do nothing ...
by suresh lall on Feb 07, 2011 12:02 PM  | Hide replies

For every good argument there is always an equally good counter argument. We as a nation have become fairly robust with our arguments and pillaging any good initiative has become second nature for us. We find dubious intentions in everything that we see around us, the trust quotient for anything is at an abysmal low. We cant trust the people we send out to govern us, we cant trust the business around us, hell we don't trust our own relatives and friends. We are burying ourselves in this ... and it has spiraled out of control now. So i am certain, we will have always one section of the society that will continue to provide counter arguments for every good deed.

We are doomed in this wave of arguments. I am sure someone here will have a counter to what i am saying ... Welcome to our collective nightmare!

Lets do something first to make India a civilized country. The fear of misusing a comprehensive data base of the entire population by mighty and powerful people of a dirt poor country like India is very real.

We tout ourselves as the oldest civilization, yet lack values, civility, respect for fellow human beings irrespective of faith, caste, economic status, etc. Every politician talks of inclusiveness in governance but the moment that speech is done in the air conditioned environment they take off in their swanky cars and helicopters to pull yet another fast one on gullible people. Its heartening to see the tidal wave emerging from Egypt and i truly believe that if we need to bring change to our nation and its governance, an indigenous uprising is definitely in the offing. Millions of people in this country continue to go hungry and we have hell of economist MMS saying that because of NREGA people have more wealth to splurge around hence the cost of living is gone up.

What we are missing is a collective voice that works to blow away the ills we have acquired and stacked up all around us. Unless that happens, we will continue to speak in muted voices about the change and will walk away from the real change when we are asked to participate or do something about it ourselves.

India right now is in a state where we need a few good men who are above personal gains and are truly committed to work with true intentions to bring about equitable and just change all around. Its quite a shame that we cant muster up 545 good people who really understand governance and work towards the collective aspirations of what we as people want.
