To achieve real progress and become a strong country, we need to get rid of these caste religion based reservation and since lot of people are below proverty line, reservation(max. 30 percent) should be alloted to those people whose earning is below 2 lacs/ annum( as of today).
I have seen many people who are having good jobs, their children are studying in good school, they are doing good & still getting reservations, what is the benefit.

Dear Kalyan, Our major issue is corruption and security. Congress can not protect our country from both these evils, as they are the part of it. We need a corruption free Govt to reach the benefits at the deserving people and we are not born to die on the hands of butchers. So these 2 issues are the most important.

I know...and personaly I donot beleive in caste system...so I think its the time to get rid of the caste system but do you think promoting reservation will end this system?
And now I feel so called upper caste are becoming back benchers...
Congress can not survive without power, these congress men are addicted to power and greed. They will do anything to catch the power to protect those ill gotten wealth.
If someone say freight corridor and solar power is pre-requirement for FDI retail I will say its just inventing reasons to oppose. We have highways and we have railways and and things have been moving along. And it is for the investor to decide. If he think it wont work in India he will never invest in India! The fact of the matter is these investments will rise our infrastructure levels and we shoul be able to fight inflation better and keep a control on prices. The downside is the greedy middlemen will lose their golden goose.

going by the logic we must get ready to agree that in 2002 we had freight corridor and solar power to launch a 100% FDI in retail by then BJP govt!

@South Indian ----------- Govt has the onus to built a reasonable ,reliable infra that is compatible with 21st century economics
I agree we made some progress with AVIATION - new sirports especially the metros - Delhi ,bangalore ,hyderabad etc
===== but to fully utilize the aviation routes we need satellite towns like
Noida Nagpur amristar srinagar(kashmir ) coimbatore etc to connect them with METROS - how can this happen - may be some kind of new NM5 aircraft (multipurpose like Mahindras are testing ) or DEDICATED freight corridor by Rail network where goods can reach faster and reliable way (ofcourse cheaper) ---- so this vital links are still missing in India
Re: Basics in FDI retail

with all respect to you @South Indian ----- i)India is a tropical zone country when i say that I refer to high Humidity factor especially seasonal
ii)Dust
along with that typically in Summer months temp can easily reach above 40 plus degree centrigrade in most parts of India ---------- coming to your point that , "these investments will rise our infrastructure levels and we shoul be able to fight inflation better..."
definetly they will reduce Inflation ,but iam not sure Tecos ,walmarts etc will build a dedicated freight corridor
But if they do not and use their capital to ply trucks ,then we are also creating a uneven playing field for domestic players (kirana stores etc)
That is why GOvts has its duty first towards the nation to create such a level playing field so that Kirana shop owner can also compete with tescos ,if kirana chain owner has access to cheaper form of transporting items(goods),and that would be through Indian railways (dedicated freight corridor)
otherwise TESCOs million pounds cpaital vs Indian rupees invest by indian kirana shop owner is not on a level playing field at all

investments are made after extensive consultations and discussions at various levels.. and when it comes to perishable commodities like beggies or eatables i dont think any of these reatilers Tesco or Walmart or whoever have a central processing unit. They must be definitely considering the time it takes to procure from farmers to their nearest processing or packing facility. I dont think veggie carrying trucks run on freight corridors for thousands of kilometers to a processing plant

Our Indian national highways where trucks transport goods are still manned by manual people
why not introduce RFID tag based permits ,so that TRUCKS pass much faster on National Highways
Clogging of trucks near check posts should be speeded up with smart applications on a pc (not manual paper based )especially across states
- Normally trucks have permits in a zone like couple of states
let us Oranges from Nagpur to say new delhi apples from Kashmir to new delhi
do we have built such smart systems ?
our projects are delayed and behind schedule ? correct

Because dhongi baba knows the consequences of defamation laws in India
Prerequites for FDI in retail are: ===== Dedicated Freight corridor - goods Train carraiages are smart tech enabled (tracking ,temperature control ,storage in terms of Humidity etc) ----- POWER - we need SOLAR or Nuclear power to power up the requiste Cold storage chains ,new RFID based tech systems
so what did GOVT do in last 7.5 years - UPA 1 AND UPA 2(HALF TERM) why Mumbai - delhi freight corridor did not take off ? (Indian railways )
even if walmart, tescos come ,where will they transport ,store and get the power from ?
Re: did we have basics in place as well - FDI in retail ?
by rama anne on Dec 19, 2011 10:16 AM
UPA 1 govt should have worked out - land acquisition ,invited tenders and bids shotrtlisted etc
For Mumbai - delhi freight corridor they should have started building a seperate Railway track about 3 years ago
by this time we would have had a good dediacted ,cheap ,reailable transport between Mumbai and Delhi - ---- with that in place ,Indian private sect should have tied up with foreign players and got either fabricated or ready to assemble smart Carraiges(that have in built storage systems ,temperature control etc) using solar power should have been inducted ?
without the above ,even FDI in retail ,will still need the above ?

That is why everyone is amazed at speed of execution by Chinese ----- even if we execute at half the speed of Chinese
we would have has Mumbai - delhi Kolkota - Gauhathi Trivandrum - Madras -Hyderabad Freight corridors set up by this time ====== even Dr Kalams PURA proejcts RFID tag tech in indias national highways etc are all not priotorised and implemented ---- UPA has had 2 full terms - 10 yrs a good period to plan and execute
but scams have largely derailed UPA and also disappointed Indian people as well
