Indians are proud of its soldiers
by uday shankar on Dec 16, 2011 06:52 PM

but Indians do not include its ruling Govt politicians. Sacrifices made by our dear soldiers, life's lost, is all soon forgotten and battle gains compromised for political gains. Was a child at Vizag, HQ of Eastern Naval Comand during that war. This place became historic when a Paki sub was gunned down and the US seventh fleet tried to reach there to help Pak. Our soldiers won the battle even before the US fleet could reach. If as a civilian I can be proud of those glorious moments, one can imagine the memories a soldier holds so dear to his heart. I bow to the pride of the Indian defence forces; the real guardians as we sleep in peace with our families, guarding our borders. Hats off dear ones. How true is "BT you and me are lucky soldiers, only lucky soldiers see war and luckier ones get challenging tasks, succeed, survive and their contribution is recognised by the service and the nation." How very true!!.

Soldiers who have seen real war are blessed ones. The sacrifice that they give is a huge one. Hope we never face a war again with any country. For that hope no country goes for war. God protect people from evil leaders.

Yup!!! Only lucky sodiers get to see war.....

Started by greedy leaders, who then call it off midway, to show-off as Messiahs Of Peace & lobby for awards, ditching these soldiers & making them "unlukcy."

Just bring to mind the Indo-China or Indo-Pak wars after which both the Jawaharlal-Indira duo had lobbied for Shantidoot-Priyadarshini Awards. The Armed Forces n India had been left for damned in the bargain.

No wonder then that Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw & General Cariappa reserved their choicest expletives for these two throughout their life.

1971 War
by mani shrinivas on Dec 16, 2011 03:07 PM  | Hide replies

I had the priviledge in taking part in 1971 war as an Acting Captain at the age of 20 years with 1 1/2 yrs service.
I want to share my exerience when I was so close to death. I was at Gun Position. We had attacked a Pak position the previous night and captured thier post. We about 6 of us were standing next to our gun pit when the enemy couter bombardment started. One shell landed about one meter away. We all jumped into the gun pit and were saved as the shell splinters have a dead ground within a radious of one meter. One poor Jawan of mine who had made tea for us and was bringing a kettle and mugs, was hit by the splinter and died on the spot. We felt so bad for the youg boy who must be of my age only..... This is fate !!!!

Return from War to narrate the events and great deeds. Others lay down their lives for their motherland. Great Souls. We can only salute these soldiers.
