Anna and Anti-corruption move
by siva none on Aug 21, 2011 05:34 AM  | Hide replies

The lokPal bill was introduced several times in the past. None of the parties in power wanted it including the BJP. Now that the day-to-day survival is marred by corrupt activities initiated and maintained by most politicians, some one -Anna has taken up the issue which is gathering momentum. Its only a matter of willingness and effort to bring it in force as necessary with workable power. But Anna was blamed, accused and so on. Its the government who nearly locked him in a dungeon and tried to suppress the move / LokPal.Let there be a dialogue for a proper and acceptable bill in the interest of future CORRUPTION FREE INDIA.

Magic stick to stop corruption
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Aug 21, 2011 05:31 AM

MMS says there is no magic stick in his hands to stop corruption. I say what is needed is neither magic stick nor Jan Lokpal Bill but a Prime Minister who is not impotent but omnipotent. Therefore, MMS must resign and bring an omnipotent like TN Seshan as PM.

Lok Pal Quagmire

Every one wants corruption free country like Ram Rajya. But the moot question is: Is it possible?
The Lok Pal bills create another tier of administrative wing, which will add to the Govt. Public spending.
The Jan Lokpal bill wants to deal with corruption at all level of bureaucracy. This means, there will be millions of cases of genuine as well as false complaints to Lok Pal authorities. How they will deal with it. There will be piling of cases like the present judicial system. To my mind, it is bound to fail. Let us not add to already existing problems.
My take on the corruption:
Follow Paretto Principle of 80-20: The Lok Pal should deal with high corruption cases of over say Rs.100 crores.
Public resistance should meet the petty cases of bribes like traffic police. If Anna can gather people at national level for such a cause, then why at local level, some retired official garner support from youths take lead to reduce corruption at grass root level. Nip the corruption at the budding stage.
'Prevention' of corruption is better than fighting against corruption.
Mass leaders like SRI SRI Ravishankar should exhort people to refrain from accepting bribes as well as giving it.
No law is going to cleanse the system, more so in a democratic system. Proper education and bringing about change of heart and mind at the way we deal with corruption will be the golden key.
Let us not kill the democratic system to create another 'demon' of Lok Pal authority.

ANNA PLEASE STOP NOW

I do not hold a brief for the Government or the MPs. Within my means, I do my bit for standing out against corruption. Anna is a saint and his Jan Lokpal Bill is perhaps an outstanding piece of legislation. Any right thinking person would wholeheartedly support his revolution against corruption but I cannot support his fast unto death to get his bill passed. Thats PURE BLACKMAIL and two wrongs never made a right. He is a Gandhian and Gandhiji always said that ends do not justify means and means are equally important. Constitution is supreme and as per our constitution it is the prerogative of the Parliament to make laws. Views of the public can certainly be taken before enacting laws but noone can claim as a matter of right that his views ought to be taken. The correct path would be to get elected along with your supporters, muster enough strength in the house and get your bills passed. Even if others do not know this, SENIOR ADVOCATES SHANTI BHUSHAN AND PRASHANT BHUSHAN CERTAINLY WOULD. These esteemed lawyers may be reminded that for every one Shantibhushan and Prashant Bhushan, there are hundreds of equally brilliant lawyers. If all of them were to be heard before passing a bill, there would be a disaster and there is no good reason as to why they ought to be placed at a higher pedestrial. So CARRY ON ANNA in your revolution against corruption but just leave law making to Parliament. That cannot be changed even for a saint like you. JAI HIND.

It's time to add "Indan Revolution" in history books!
by Mayur Shukla on Aug 21, 2011 02:52 AM

With the increase of middle and educated class in India this sort of revolution was expected to happen. It took 62 odd years for this to happen. Voice of Indian citizens is above the Parliament of this country. Parliament is not only to pass bills but they have to serve us for our good. They have to do what citizens of India want. Constitution is made to have to have a good and efficient governance in the country. If things are not working fine with this 60 years old constitution we have to change it. Now things got to be changed. It's now "ENOUGH" time. We've got to grow now as an economy. It's India's time now and we've got to change. If corruption is solved in India it will help in solving all other problems in the country. Money is there but it is not reaching to right people. This is not Anna's problem alone..it is "India's revolution". A revolution on which whole world will keep an eye on. It is also not only about that we have to get this bill, we have have to change the system. Ministers chosen for 5 years should not think that they will not listen to people in between these 5 years and will do what ever they like.
