Take the case of Mr.Thomas – CVC. Supreme Court said, persons with suspicious background can not head CVC. For that matter - at least MPs, Ministers (If not MLAs), Political appointees like chairpersons of various institutions, committees including committee members etc should be above any kind of suspicion. Similarly - Judges, Top Bureaucrats etc, However it may not be possible 100% (it should be possible to the extent of at least 85% - Kiran Bedi was accused of Medical Seat case of her daughter in NE ) - in the present scenario where Bhushans also are nearly proved to be corrupt in some sense if not by CDs etc, by their own commission of not quitting committee as soon as allegations were made. On top of it why father and son in that committee (In 121 crore population can we not have experts of the caliber of Bhushans?)?. This was irreversible blunder committed while choosing committee members. If Bhushans quit, lot of time would have saved and lot of legitimacy would have accrued to the committee over and above credibility and good will of the country. to take benifit of the oppertunity is not corruption. corruption is to present obstruction or give undue advantage for receiving monetory gains

- You need to read CVC guidelines what constitute corruption.
Bhushans were compromised and softened with land offer at throw away prices , so that he would be "soft and friendly" while fighting Statue case against Mayawati.
The case was weakened so much that Mayawati won the case.
