Self-reliance
by dasjad@rediffmail.com on Oct 30, 2010 04:32 PM  | Hide replies

Admiral us right India should spend $10bilion on improving and increasing LCA number and quality rather than paying it toi buy 126fighers from overseas. But it will be done as it will big kickback to many a middlemen.
Otherwise $10billion will go a long way in imrpoving self-reliance rather than forever spending hard cash on purchasingtechnology, which gets oudated after few years.

You are absolutely right. But the problem cannot be solved by electing a congress government. Congress has always been the nuber one enemy of India. It has allowed the partition of India and it has allowed the fifth columnist moslems in India to gain strength in the name of a fake secularism. Now, it has found an Italian woman to do the rest. Under the congress rule India is heading for a fresh spell of foreign domination.

by nadeem khan on Oct 30, 2010 03:18 PM  | Hide replies

why rdf immediately removed it's own article:
Will IAF fly this Super Viper fighter aircraft?
Please ggl title above.

I guess "mrs" oba amma is coming india to sell those outdated junks to us. dear indian brothers, these yanks are friends to no one!!!
not even to their own jobless citizens, roaming on the streets, without work and food.

yanks were friends to afgans; then they bmbd thm.
yanks were frnds to iraqies; they bmbd thm as well.
yanks are frnds to prkies; very soon prkies too will eat yank-bmbs.
we indians should treat these psychos with their own medicine: muh mein ramram, bagal mein chhuri.
ask them to sell their one dozen STLTH fighters * at the proposed cost of F16junks.

*conditions apply: regular spares 10 years stock shall be delivered along with the aircrafts.

you are right, US has a hidden agenda for India, they would use India against China which US feels as a threat in terms of GDP, infrastructure, science and patents. India will be used like Pak as a satellite

India has never played the tool game and has been smart about not being used like a condom, and (hopefully) would continue to do so. Pukistan is a condom factory and they don't have any choice. US actions in negating the use of pukistan as a nuclear-checkmate has to be undone. Its financial support of pukistan in one form or the other also has to stop. Otherwise, all US talk about friendship is just that. It should be taken with 3 pinches of salt.

For example, ...growing Indo-US defense ties suggest that the Indian government has given up on the goal of self-reliance.

Did not expect this from an Admiral rank person!

Excellent article there!! "Being poor is no crime. But being a slave is a crime." Rightly said it!!

However, the root of the problem starts from where the votes are bought with foreign money. So, it is corruption which is cutting the roots and eating the leaves...

Hope there is somebody in defense ministry and in administration to listen to such powerful article.

He is merely stating the facts that we all know, however in somewhat skewed manner. If we can not produce a world class automobile without foreign collaboration how can we possibly produce smart fighter planes or tanks.

Technology can not be introduced from top down. It has to make its way from bottom upwads (like Chines success story). Otherwise we'd always be dependent on others for updates and spare parts.

AT THE SAME TIME, WHY DO YOU EXPECT INDIAN INDUSTRY TO BEHAVE QUICKER THAN US DEFENSE INDUSTRY?

USA DEFENSE INDUSTRY IS QUITE EXPERIENCED AND THE BEST FUNDED. TO LOOK DOWN ON OUR OWN IS NOT CORRECT.

Private sector is the answer.
by GRINDIAN on Oct 30, 2010 11:21 AM  | Hide replies

The DRDO and other organisations under Govt contrl have failed to deliver not only in time but in quality .So no point in blaming only the Coordination part .

Secondely ,we must puul in private sector and govet esctor in Defence related capabilities .It would work wonders . For example see our refinry sector , Manufactering sector , we have latest state of art techniologies and the competition has brought out the bset for mPvt as well s govt sector.

Unfortunately , we do not have country centric approach , and have persoanlity centric and selfish and oprtunistic approch . Hence no cohesive policy.

Indian private sector, take for example the automobile sector are not able to develop an engine that is truly indigenous...The manufacturing sector depends mostly on imported machines and they call this as state-of-the-art..and mind u, in India none of the private companies will invest such a huge amount for R&D for which they will have returns after a long period of time..everyone wants to make money in the minimum possible time. We always are the users of foreign technologies.
Also, no one is stopping anyone from entering DRDO and prove their skills. If most of the IITians or the NITians want to go abroad and work for someother country, how DRDO or the government can take resposibility. If we are not changing the system, do u think that someone from sky will come and change the system...

Private sector in India has difficulties in keeping up with the international competition in automobile sector. How can we produce state of the art fighter planes without extensive foreign collaboration. And would they collaborate in the area of cutting edge technology?

India needs to improve the quality of R&D in education institution and have better mechanism of interphase between industry and institution. Indian does not crry out credible R&D in many key areas. Expenditure in R&D is the only way.

Excellent Article,Mr Puri, All Hindus and all policy makers must know that westerners are basically businessmen and our recent history of 500 years shows that main hobby of westerners has been to FOOl and LOOT indians using all sorts of dirty tricks and the foolish indians do NOT ven realise that they are being FOOLED and LKOOTED for the past 500 years and the master dirty strioke has been use of the double agent and fake freedom fighter mahatma gandhee and use of non-violence as a dirty trick to fool and llot trillions and trillions of dollars without getting hurt or killed for so many decades by the majroty hindus made moronic and cowards by the geobeelian trick of making non violence as the greatest noble human trait and all the garbage dished out by westren media and intellectuals and bribed and biased indian media and intellectuals. What a shame, majority hindu millions that you have been fooled and looted so deeply and so badly for so many decades and centuries.

All knows this but the problem is we Indians are all corrupted by nature. We all will give flowery comments on rediff but if we are given a chance to run the country we will do worse. It is not the politicians to be blamed, it is the we the Indians are to be blamed. Saying true HIndustani is not enough. Unless one thinks he is a true and honesh hindustani nothin will change in this country and we will increasingly become slaves of corruption
