this is medical problem. the one associates with the terrorists/thiefs/naxala generally gets sympathetic to their cause and sees gud in their arguments. Dr Kaul also is a victim of that disease. A sense of false security also can be seen creeping into his analysis.

He should immediately stop his business and return to Mumbai..and treate those injured by Kasab.

So Mr. Gilani now needs an image makeover. What better way than to hire a hindu and personal "Kashmiri Pandit" doctor
to do the laundry. Does Gilani really expect now an increase in his personal status,
and that people will start looking up at him ?

After reading so many of these opinions I am glad there is hardly any support to this doctor who needs a doctor.
Even if media is trying to float some boats here, the people are not getting swayed. I have seen it happen several times
because nowadays war is fought not just on streets, but in people's mind - "PSYWAR"
What is this doctor's enlightened argument? He respects gilani because he is stubborn ? Instead of seeing reason
and just cause, he is taking advantage of govt's generous appeasing policies. Would he be as stubborn if he had been in China ?

So many evil minded people in the past had been stubborn and did not yield to reason and appeasement. That does not
make them respectable. Hitler was also obstinate and stubborn and stuck to his stance causing mindless killing of innocents.
No amount of appeasement could alter his course.

Another argument giving is about spartan living. I have seen some other reader also point out - Aurangzeb was also living life
without any luxuries, but that does not make is fanaticism justifiable.

Mr. Gilani openly advocates that muslims cannot live as minority. So he is free to go to pakistan and become a majority an

and try
to cultivate his kashmiri identity there. Lets see how long he survives.

What are the kashmiris asking the freedom from ? They have political freedom to choose there leaders, religious freedom, financial freedom.
Their demand for a separate state on basis of their religious identity is not justified. Those who do not want to stay in India
have the freedom to leave the country.

Indians have to get serious when it comes to national integrity. The efforts to break down India have been going on since
Independence. During Mrs. Gandhi's time she made concerted effort to increase awareness in people through messages of national integration.
In Manmohan's govt. it seems to be fashionable to talk about autonomy.
Separatists are living in fool's paradise and spoiling there own future. Unless the population in Kashmir resolutely drives these
separatists out they are blocking their own progress.

Maybe we should start by treating certain sections of our society as lesser Indians because of their religion?

Just a thought.

I think people like Sameer Kaul have a perspective that we must respect. However, we cannot let anti-social elements causing unrest take control of situation and prompt us to take any unwise decision. The extremists have no end to their needs, once you give Kashmir away, they want something else next. You cannot let that to happen. China is aggresively portraying Arunachal Pradesh as its own territory. We need to stand strong and flush out infiltrators. We need to partner with and learn from our Israeli friends and understand what it means to be on offensive. We must start being proactive instead of reactive before its too late.

Kashmir is on it's way to Talibanism
by Bharatiar on Oct 12, 2010 01:19 AM  | Hide replies

Liberal, tolerant and inclusive ideologies cannot survive the onslaught of Jehadism. Indian secularism has itself been dealt a body-blow by our own Chaddiwalas and homegrown Jehadis. The damage that has been done will take decades to repair, if ever.

Kashmir stands no chance if India moves away from it. Hardline Islamists will move in overnight - no more article 370 protecting Kashmiris from settlement of Pashtuns, Pak. Punjabis, etc. It'll become just another Afghanistan.

If we must depend on private militia to protect ourselves, then I'd say that India is ineffective as a state. What's the point of a country that cannot protect it's citizens from aggression? And what's to say that the Chaddis themselves will not turn against me?

What Hindus should do is not to tear apart the foundations of India, but to strengthen them. And THEN we'll have the moral right to demand sternly from everyone else that they do the same too.

By attacking the moral foundations of our country, the Chaddis are weakening it.

by Deankash on Oct 11, 2010 11:35 PM  | Hide replies

Kashmiri pandits are an inseparable part of Kashmir. We want to live together and have always been urging for their return. We will continue to do so. Even Geelani Shib supports theam to return Kashmir.Indian can never give them any permanent security.Kashmiri pandits will safe only in kashmir.Everyone knows in last 20 years Indian did anything for them.As everyone knows lot kashmiri pundits return their home did they face any problem they enjoy safe life in kashmir.Kashmir is not a religious problem, it is a political dispute and unless the people are given their right our just struggle will continue.

Kashmir struggle *is* religious in nature, at least as per Geelani.

From Geelani's interview:

"Ever since my release from prison on August 7, 2004, I have been spreading my message across Kashmir. I have a three-point target. First is to impose an Islamic nizam (jurisprudence) in Kashmir. Islam should govern our lives, be it in our political thought, socio-economic plans, culture or the ongoing movement.

The creed of socialism and secularism should not touch our lives and we must be totally governed by the Koran and the Sunnat (precedents from Prophet Mohammad's life).

Secondly, I have been propagating that we must fight against anti-Islamic forces. These forces come in our way under the garb of nationalists, secularists, racists, linguistic chauvinists, and so on.

Thirdly, I have been telling the youth to work for the right to self-determination which is granted to them by the United Nations. I have been drawing huge support from the youth for this as a result of which you see lakhs of people on the roads today."

It'll not be long before US missiles will rain on Kashmir if the likes of Geelani comes to power.
