:) And obviously Congress Bureau of Investigation punishes all culprits...

As is evident by Lalloo Yadav being a beggar today still in jail...
Ashok Chavan has been stripped of his millions..
Kalmadi has been sent to life imprisonment
Sheela Dikshit is barred from ever running for CM post..

Manmohan Singh is expelled from the party for abetting and aiding A Raja's 170 lakh crores scam..

A Raja himself has been handed a death sentence for committing a national treachery..

SonyaJee GandhiJee herself is banished back to Italy after we took over her family's Swiss accounts containing 70 lakh Crores; and on top of that we also recovered the money she allowed Quattrochi to take out with the help of Congress Bureau of Investigation....
eh?

That's why you think Kaangress is doing really well.... no? :)

Trust me, the problem of bad plumbing and poor masonary has nothing to do with the money spent. Kalmadi and his staff may have been corrupt, but the main point I am trying to raise is that quality of workmanship - plumbing, carpentary, electricians - has hit the rock bottom. Even large builders that sells you apartment running into several crores of rupees in mumbai, bangalore or NCR would vouch for this, al biet privately. Almost all apartments that are built today run into heavy overruns and quality of workmanship is at its worst. Masons cant even lay a straight, flat tile. There is actually so much demand for these professionals that many companies have actually hired monkeys and they attempt to train them on the job. The ones with experience and talent dont want to work for just anybody. They are smart enough to either enterprising or moving abroad. There is a serious shortage of skilled labor in the construction industry and govt must do something - either open more ITIs or private sector in training should jump in. Also public perception relating to such services need to change because while an air hostess or a software engineer gets different treatment in society as compared to a plumber or electrician.

Right, is it not happening in other industries also from food industry to IT. Where is quality
1) College Education is an industry
2) Hotel quality 15 years is too different now.

The less said it is better

Poor craftsman ship and when you talk about quality in India at home or outside, answer is that you are too perfectionist or people say like cribbing about minor things.

It takes a lot of self desire to give and take quality

Thank God - this guy is no longer an ambassador
by gopal on Nov 30, 2010 01:30 AM  | Hide replies

I am surprised to hear this kind of pessimistic nonsense. Surely, if he has lived abroad as one would expect from an ambassador he would know that every nation goes through these kinds of events. In fact, exposing these things makes India stronger not weaker.

If he doesn't like India, he can perhaps go and live in an Arabic country where there is dictatorship and injustices abound. The rule of law is virtually non-existent for the rich and the powerful. A additional benefit is that the press there is so weak that he won't have to hear about scams anymore.

Gopal:

a) You say exposing these things is good

b) You then go on to say that exposing these things means pessimistic nonsense

c) You round up your argument by telling us that an Arabic country too is being made stronger as you expose their weak points... ;-)

If you love India soooooo much, come, lets form a political group to replace Congress/BJP/Leftists etc.

Are you ready to be honest?
Are you ready to give up your jobs?
Are you ready to give up family?

What?
I thought so.
What a pity...and quiet flows the Ganga....

Sorry... something wrong in your thinking. I dont think that being in public service is all about being honest, being ready to give up a job and being ready to leave your family.

It is much, much more complicated. Most educated people like you and me can talk nicely and can even administer better than several monkeys out there. But Indian democracy is a different animal. When a city bred goes to a village, the public wont look at you, leave alone give their votes. For that, you would need a mass leader, a charismatic one that can talk a rural language and understand the minds of people. Likewise, you will get into the same or similar issues when you go to a smaller town. In my opinion, the only way forward is that politicians should manage people (masses) and professionals should manage governance. But this is not possible because politicians would want their share of cake.

Unless this change comes about, there is really no use quitting your job or your family as you will enter a realm for which you are not suited. May be, presidential system as in USA could be better where a single powerful politician gets elected by the people and he does not depend on other 100s of local politicians to stay in power. In such a case, governance could be outsourced to professionals.

Even though Cong party tried this by bringing manmohan singh as PM, but the fact is that it has completely failed. Ultimately today, Manmohan is more a politician and less an economist!!

Immatured Article
by siva kumar on Nov 29, 2010 08:00 PM  | Hide replies

Rediff finds this type of worthless articles now and then from pessimistic people just arouse the feelings of the Rediff readers.
Pakistan like countries which play double roles, encourages, finances and sponsors terrorism are tolerated by the hypocrytic world.
Whereas Indian scams may affect only India and not others. This is not to support corruption. But scams are unearthed, the people behind those scams have been made public. Our judicial system may not be efficient to render instant justice. But scamsters have been atleast ashamed.
As far as secularism is concerned there is no specific definition and what is followed in India is definitely secularism.
Indian secularism is peculiar and unreasonable.
There is no uniform civil law common for all religions here! Is it secularism?
Then the word "minorities'. Once all citizens are guaranteed equality in all aspects irrespective of any religion, where the question of minorities/majority arises?
If you ask such reasonable questions you are branded communal.Religious tolerance should be two way traffic. Not for only one religion.
These bureaucrats who undertake foreign assignments just for making money are not known to have contributed anything to uplift the glory of India.
Let them live comfortable with their families in Foreign countries.India will assert its glory slowly but steadily.
