Pushpam Rastogi
We have bigger concerns
by Pushpam Rastogi on Mar 07, 2010 04:31 PM

People raising concerns 'Mumbai belongs only to people from Maharashtra or Marathi Manoos' are no different than Naxalites, Taliban or LTTE. India is democratic country that gives rights to people to express their views freely but still speaking against National issues is Terrorism.
Each and every one among us has 3 identities- National, Regional and Religious identity. The Former is main identity and later are sub identities. The states, cities and constituencies are not formed to divide people but to facilitate management of resources and funds. We the citizens of India have been granted fundamental rights and duties by constitution of India and it says we are free to live anywhere in India irrespective of our place of birth or religion.
When we travel overseas, don’t we call ourselves only Indians and not Mumbai Indians or xyz Indians? The reason is that we prefer being called as Indians. Mumbai is a place in India but India is a nation. We stay in a Place but we belong to a nation. People from all Indian states do not need state passport but Indian Passport to travel and get identified by other nations.
India is known for unity in diversity and we all feel proud of our rich culture and heritage. We all give respect to our religion, place and customs but we also need to learn to give respect to others. This will help us to spend our time for addressing bigger concerns of Illiteracy, Poverty and Unemployment instead of fighting about trivial issues.
I am surprise

Shiv Sena / BJP should first answer, what have they done to stop immigrants comming into Mumbai. They were ruling Maharashtra and central goverment for six years and did nothing.

How many Bangladeshi were sent home during there rule???

Shiv Sena/BJP are in power in BMC since 20 years. How many illegal hawkers from North or Bangladesh were removed by them. What steps have they taken. They dont need any constitutional amendement to remove illegal hawkers and pavement dewellers.

But all they want is make noise, and constitutially you cannot stop any one to come into Mumbai or any where else in India. But you can constituinally not allow them to encourch on goverment land. This within Shiv Sena and BJP power, since they rule BMC.

But ofcourse there is money to be made in HAPTA from the poor vendors and slums lords collect rent.

Its all about money and Shiv Sena have no intention to get ride of any paying illegal migrant.

Pat Thakur
Let that governor.......
by Pat Thakur on Mar 07, 2010 10:39 AM

Open up his South to the whole nation then & embrace the rest of India. Let this frog come out of his muddy pond & face the World. Let him blast those seperatists down South who want seperate identities. Give them an inkling that any seperatist action will be dealt wih strictly at any cost. If they're part of India, they should remain so.
