This man has been responsible for a non cong party at centre stage. With his intelligent rightist path, he has united several hindus (here monirities like sindhis, sikhs, jains are also considered). But for him BJP would not have formed the govt

Can you tell me how BJP ruined institutions when India is ruled by Congress. BJP ruled for only 6 years.

Please don't write for the sake of writing. We all read your comments.

Subramania Swamy - Champion of Emergency
by Pen diamond on Jun 25, 2010 12:13 PM  | Hide replies

During the State of Emergency [1975-77], Dr.Swamy emerged as a courageous hero by helping organize the underground movement. For half of the Emergency period he escaped abroad to mobilize the Indians in US, Canada and U.K., to demonstrate against the atrocities at home. To prove that the underground organization was well networked in India, Dr.Swamy arrived suddenly in New Delhi from London on August 10, 1976 undetected despite an arrest warrant pending against him, entered Parliament made a point of order intervention when the House Chairman was reading out the obituary resolutions, then walked out to fly back to London !

He is an insane lunatic who gives outlandish statements from time to time. JJ showed him his right place and these days he is cowering in the saffron camp. For his next fit, you never know whom he will ally with. A character right out of the comic book.

Fred, do not make a point just for the sake of it. Look at what Dr. Swamy says. His points are generally legally most correct. If you are a learned person, you should take his points seriously.

You seem to be a close associate or a relative of Swamy. Otherwise, no Indian has so much praise for him.

Mrs. Indira Gandhi and her cabinet colleagues were all left astounded. The world wide publicity to the event made everyone realize, as the Washington Post wrote, that the Emergency had become a joke. This one event propelled Mrs.Gandhi into declaring a General election a few months later—that she lost. With this act, Dr.Swamy emerged in the country as a young mass public figure, and the Emergency halo has remained with him since then.

I agree that voting the UPA was a blunder. But voting for Advani would have been a monumental blunder...even bigger than the emergency. This man is as much a shameless and cunning politician as any other....nothing less

People like you cooked his goose, by floating the iron man theory. The theory was first started by Venkaiah Naidu, who called him Loh Purush and Vajpayee had disapproved of that remark.

Emergency
by nick mandalaywala on Jun 25, 2010 11:41 AM

Indira Gandhi, the Congress Rule dominated by Nehru family for years led the country to Bankruptcy. She nationalized every business, bred corruption, There was a waiting period of no less than six months when any one wanted to buy a phone, scooter, car or any necessity., which led to corruption.,split the party, stalwarts like Morarji Desai, T T krishnamachari,
left the party, They always wanted Jee hajurias and make them skape goats on their failures.
In England, Margret Thatcher turned the tables and in India,
It was BJP who turned the tables around during their rule.
For any Democracy to Survive, there must be liberty, truth and Justice. Freedom of Speech and total freedom for TV medias and News papers

We need atleast 10 years of emergency.
by indian soldier on Jun 25, 2010 10:10 AM  | Hide replies

Total focus on building infrastructure, inviting private and multinationls who can create jobs for indians. Emergency would help. Otherwise we spend all the time on debate and more debate. Generating agreement in this country is nightmare. you cant move to action quickly. focus on projects and how to complete it fast with least resources. All our attention and time goes on debate, talking, gossoping. No wonder it take 15 years to complete one Worli seal link fly over and cost goes up to 3 times more. Its high time we train ourselve in getting some discipline.
