Unpalatable but very True!
by Radhakrishna Iyer on Jul 07, 2010 03:25 PM

A person can progress if he valuates opinion especially passed about him and if he finds merit in it, must take steps to fix it or improve. The Dalai Lama has said we Indians are lazy. I feel there is truth in this and we must take constructive criticism on board.

On the matter of China it is pretty obivious that all their production etc has improved the likes of a few and their nation to dauble in International politics than to improve the quality of their local citizens lives. They have pegged their currency artificially at a lower rate. This does help their exports by making them competitive in the international market but their citizens by and large cannot get foreign quality goods mainly because at their pegged currency imports are very expensive and out of reach of most people. Yes the big businesses have too much money and will ostentatiously flout their riches. There were recent reports of widespread strikes where the docile 'cattle' of workers have been protesting their low wages and wanted more. There has been talk also of letting their currency find its true worth by freeing it from regulation. Just how much it will really appreciate is another matter. Once their currency rises and imports get cheaper and their exports more expensive because of the added labour costs and higher currency rates their common man will be better off with more purchasing power and China and its people will start to find its right position both at home and in the comity of nation

Dalai Lama has become an overhead liability for India !
by Pankaj Singh on Jul 07, 2010 11:03 AM  | Hide replies

.
Now Dalai Lama has become an overhead liability for India. India is spending a huge amount on maintaining Dalai Lama and his thousands of followers who do nothing.

On the other hand, India-China relations can not be normal till he is here and this Dalai Lama and his followers can not even dream of the independence of Tibet. Why should we spend on such ?
