Yes, you are right. Our brothers in India feel,when they set foot in the Gulf,as if they have recahed their destined land.But Indian,Paki,Bangla laborers,irrespective of the religion are just "hindi miskeen" and are treated like dogs.

Vegetarianism in Hinduism is quite misunderstood. The religion prevents only those that teach and those that work in temples from consuming meat.And obviously cows are not on the menu. But the general perception and twisted arguments make it sound like the religion expects the followers to be vegetarians. This is one of the most practical religions after all.
