People dont know about many US nuke tests which failed
by Devdutt Nayak on Dec 26, 2010 02:29 PM

The US is supposed to be perfect in all things technology.
Not so.
They have failed a lot too. The official stories of nukes tested in the 40s and 50s are ample proof of how everything can have failures till all the lessons are learnt.

Germans are the best in engineering, but they fail too. Even the Japanese have had glaring failures in recent times. Everyone fails.

This is how engineering is.

I think putting an Indian vehicle on the moon is a permanent achievement.

ISRO scientists should not spend emotional energies over a couple of failures.

Scientific fact:
Emotional pressures do not improve further designs. Closer observation does. So maybe take a small break and get back to putting an Indian on the moon.

Crux of the story:
The media has no scruples.

They don't realise that scientists are not politicians.

Engineering failure and political failure are worlds apart.

GSLV Launches is not easy
by Jagdish Rapata on Dec 26, 2010 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

The cryogenic engine took ages for US and Soviet to develop and they had over 20 failures. This is a very complex technology and its good to see its development quite faster in India. It is evident that you have to fail atleast a couple of times before this technology is perfected.

But, the issues which ISRO is facing are not as major as the super-powers faced during their initial launches. These should be sorted out before chandrayaan-2 with a maximum delay of 1 year at worst.

All I need to say is -> Support our scientists who work with full dedication towards their jobs since they would not even have been in our country if not for their dedication.

Oh, by the way, I know this one failed in the first stage, also the cryogenic stage used was Russian... :P

The US and the soviets (as well as the french too) pioneered the cryogenic engine technology.

Whereas India had several vital inputs through authorised and not so authorised channels from Russia !

Pioneering and following in the already beaten path (even with limited light) are two entirely different prospects !

Give ISRO full support
by Draupati Raman on Dec 26, 2010 10:14 AM  | Hide replies

Give them full support. They are very much capable to get this job to sucess. Failure is the next step to success. Thomas Edison failed 3000 times to make his invention of electrical bulb. We are with you ISO men, may god bless you in your way to make this happen.

Thomas Edison Invented it. ISRO Engineers didnt even properly learn how to reverse engineer a 40 decade old technology.

It amazing these Russians did this before 40 years without any hassle. wow!!!

India ought to imbibe lessons from China in R&D
by piri on Dec 26, 2010 09:04 AM  | Hide replies

and R&D administration !

China, without the support of the western bloc (and despite all out attempts to deny technology to it from the western bloc) has long since matured as a space power and will soon rank alongside the US !

India could be a super power in space technology. Unless the government support with sufficient funds. Here in India government does not have eonough time or money to spent for technology development instead they are busy looting the country. You can imagine 2G scam money US$ 40Bn, they could have buy the whole space agencies around the world!

sorry
by bhaskaravarma on Dec 26, 2010 07:36 AM

We feel sorry, but we appreciate the scientists who had sleepless nights for this great mission, all things do not go right in our way, but loses will lead to success, this media does not have any mind, they speak of the cost of the project, but not the efforts of the great indian scientists, the media needs only loop holes, it is bad on their part, if success has happened the amount we invested in this project will be less then 10% of the benefis, so "BLOODY MEDIA" shut ur mouth. Best of Luck the GREAT INDIAN SCIENTISTS for their next mission.

Instead of raising your head from the mud and improve, you can easily accuse others.

Both the ministries - Science and Technology as well as Communications and Information Technology are being headed by this genius. One got marred by 2G scam and other by GSLV scam. ISRO has a budget of 5778 Cr. Wondering how much was swindled by UPA and Gandhi clan.

Out of which 4000 cr are in foreign currency to promote 'indigenous' technologies!!!.

You crap Indians, at any time North Korea and Iran can beat your self-flattering and child play technologies. You Chandrayan is nothing more than a Chinese remote controlled toy.
