The biggest advantage the Congress has is there is no major opposition party with a tall leadership. Anytime such great leaders have come, Indians have given them an opportunity. Also when the 'dynasty' has not headed the party it had begun disintegrating - remember Sitram Kesari.

Till recently, when Sonia Gandhi was holding absolute power, Congress was doing fine. The moment she allowed her Ministers and other functionaries to grow, things have started falling apart.
I have been observing closely and I find the cohesiveness gone after Sonia made sure that UPA II returned to power and she took back seat ( relatively low profile ).
Sheela.....Every party has its own cash/funds which are usually controlled by the founding family or important leaders.
The nehru family(i dont like the word gandhi being used to describe this family) is still controlling the congress because the treasury of the congress lies with them.
In this case, because nehru family were the rulers most of the time when congress was in power, obviously more money earned by the party (you know how)flew into their coffers and the congress treasury became their treasury and vice versa...hence they were easily able to control the party.
Also one biggest strength of the congress is votng patterns of hindus. In lok sabha elections 90% of muslims vote for the congress whereas hindu vote gets divided a lot among national ,regional,local and films stars parties etc.

And sheela...you forgot that congress has been in power for 50 out of 64 years since independance. So congress is the biggest reason for india remaining poor inspite of independance.
...only then they can hope to win. Besides they need to have ppl who real care about nation and its ppl not seat warmers like fadvani, main reason for BJP loss was projecting a hopeless liar, fadvani as PM candidate.

..the problem with Modi is ...he is capable but has no sense about PR skills.....for 8 years the kangi media with anti-hindu, anti-bjp gang went around making wild accusation against him....and this stupid modi only after 8 years wakes up to come up with his version and shows how he had tried to control the mob...including appealing for calm and peace in doordashan...but ppl were incensed by the genocide of 58 in godra and on top of that the paid media was blaming the karsevaks as if they deserved it.

media lied abut modi all the time. congressi attorneys like setalvaad coached the "witnesses" to give testimony against modi. modi took on tem all and came out a winner, big time. the smart people of gujarat looked at modi record for themselves, stood by modi. modi is the real deal that ever was. i do not agree that he can't handle pr, quite to the contrary. what modi won't do is bribe media, and you know media's record. it is a nonstrater if you were to judge modi's pr by what the paid media choose to write about him.
The reason why crooked nehru dynasty has endured, fooled and looted 85 crore hindus is that they have bribed and bought media and intelectuals and even security agencies and foold and looted the nation and majority hindus using all sorts of dirty and goebbelian tricks and the farcial democracy has helped this crooked dynasty to thrive and fool and loot the nation too.The epic mahabharat is being enacted now in front of the eyes of a billion people and that is the greatness of this great epic,mahabharat.
