Terrible damage to nation's image by Ms Teresa
by Anonymous on Aug 27, 2010 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

That lady in her zeal to xritianize the country, projected the country as a hopeless land of poors and lepors, to get money from abroad. Result? Everywhere outside India the image of India is one of a hopeless land of poors, indelibly etched in minds of people. It might take a generation to undo that image (OK, India is not rich I know but it is better than what she projected).

Never forget she was a fundamentalist xtian with ulterior motive to "harvest" the poor souls in name of serving them. Anyone remembers she held a long fast in Delhi to demand reservation for xtians so that poor people have one more reason to convert, apart from receiving the goodies donated to them by Missionaries using foreign money.

Read my post again. I have no idea how many souls she could harvest (nor would it be revealed by Missionary of Charities). What I am saying is her ulterior motive was to harvest the souls in guise of serving the poor, a common phenomenon across all the missioanries across the world who "serve" the poor. And yes, I have seen this personally in mutliple countries apart from India.

In theory she would project herself (like all missionaries) as secular, willing to help anyone in need with a hope that poor soul can somehow be "harvested" by guile or monetary means or whatever. And I stand by this.

In summary, saints are people who do good to humanity without ANY expectation. She certainly never did that and always wanted to harvest as many souls as possible in guise of serving poor. Why else did she demand reservation for converted dalit christians? That was to make conversion more lucrative to poor souls.

I hope this will make some sense to you, although given the fact that you are already a "harvested" soul, chances seem to be low to me.

Lastly, if you have a shred of decency, argue without using foul language.

Mr. Ajit Pandey,

Have you even had the decency to visit any of her institutions or speak to the poeple who have been helped by her charities to write about her work? Or have you already done a Phd on her intentions and aim? You and the likes like you are a sick, jealous lot who have not been able to achieve even a fraction of what she has done for humanity, and let me tell you this is not the only nation that she has helped she has helped the world, so get your facts right and let me tell you no one mind you no one who has tasted her charity has ever complained that she has tried to convert them in any way. If they have ever converted (I am not sure cause I have not heard of anyone who has) then it is of their own will because none of you could give them the diginity to die in peace on a warm bed full of love. As I have replied to Anonymous and said go live there for a few days enjoy their hospitality (free of cost)and then lets see if you will you write the crap your dirty mind idle mind has written. Its people like you who are selfish to the core and failures who cannot do good that write such crap and poison other peoples mind, you and anonymous are making a laughing stock of yourselves.

no one has project india as what it isn't. every country projects itself in ways that they want to be perceived. But this is entirely a political decision and has to be enforced at a political level as well. Are you saying that the pictures presented are not from india?

how long are we going to just pretend that misery doesn't exist in india?

This is not about poverty, as you try to "project" yourself. It is about the hopeless desolation that is part and parcel of India's mindset. Nowhere does a person slide so far down the human chain as in our country. In other countries of asia, there are poor people. This is true even of China. But they never lose their self respect, as a person would lose in India if he is poor. They are not 'MAYOOS' they are just poor and will find their level in society without anyone asking them for their credentials. Whereas in India the person loses his dignity, his reason to live, his children will be abused and ill-treated, his fate will be worse than even a dog. No one has been able to explain why this phenomenon exists among our people most of all. Are you trying to say that this is somethign acceptable at any level? And how much of this are you going to hide?

There is no shame in speaking out the truth in this manner. It means that we are able to accept it and do what is necessary to remedy it.

Receiving help as you are dying is not goodies, receiving it with the dignity you deserve is not being 'bech

Read my post carefully. I never said misery does not exist in the country. And I agree with some of the points about suffering in the country.

What I said is Ms Teresa made a career out of projecting this misery to outside world and achieved her objective of converting people. C'mon, let's admit this, the only objective a missionary is to harvest the souls and that was her objective too. This objective she achieved under the garb of helping poor souls.

Want to know the cost? Think of Calcutta. What image immediately comes to mind? Gutters, poors lepors blah blah. True whether you are indian or foreigner (telling from experience).

In summary, I still stand by my claim that her acts of helping poor were not selfless acts, but driven by desire to convert them and that is not a saintly act. This might or might not have helped the subjects in cases, but certainly is not a saintly act. It is a carefully planned act to convert people under the guise of serving them.

Dear Anonymous,

Secondly your writeup reeks of jealousy, and failure because you can't do what she has done.

Thirdly what terrible damage to Nation's image are you talking about? Whoever you are remember people like these do not damage the nation's image, its people like you and the corrupt greedy swines called, politicians, officials etc who are swallowing your nations wealth that are damaging the nation's image.

Before you make such allegations, I would suggest you go down to these institutions, live there for a few days (free of cost), and see the real side of reality, don't bark simply because you have all the time in the world to doing nothing. You will know how many have really been converted? It is such a shame 2% - 3% of Christians (if the census are right) can make you feel so shattered and insecure. How jealous can one be of other peoples achievements U unhappy sick soul. Tell me how many of your nation's people have you ever bothered to help or uplift from poverty or help them die in diginity? It is a pity the Christians do not think it fit to reply or stoop to the level of you gutless, spineless creature's allegations and clarify things. Don't get led by stupid political parties who only to get political mileage n write rubbish, be practical and see both sides of the story and you won't make rash judgements and write crap. If Conversion do happen its the result of a Complete change of Heart and belief and certainly not a result of an exchange of Money.. its absurd to think that Missionaries have the funds to look after all 'converted' families for the rest of their lives, if so then I guess they are doing a damn good job at eradicating poverty In India by your assumptions, So whats the problem?

Dear Dorothy,
How does my name matter in the argument? If I disclose my real name, how would it make a difference?

Second point: Yes, I certainly can not do what she did. I certainly don't want to convert people under guise of serving them. No, if I serve downtrodden, it will be without any expectation of return (i.e. changing your faith).

How do you know I am corrupt politician? What do you know about me? Talk sense.

For your knowledge, I have been to such institutions which "serve" the poor. Both in India as well as abroad. Modus operandi is same. Pick the poorest souls and harvest them. Be it Asia or Africa (which is where some of my friends went for harvesting souls). Only a naive person will believe their sole aim is to serve the poor. No, it is not. The primary aim is to save the souls or harvest the souls, depending upon how you look at it.

What is a conversion by your defination? She never coerced people using deceit did she? She gave them the Truth and Life and relied upon their intelligence to do the right thing, Has any One complained that she was forcing them into Christianity? if not then your understanding of Christian needs a serious review. You are implying as if People convert through lies deciet, how long can a lie survive? Its only truth that reigns for eternity, Its not all talk that can convince people its through example and Mother Threasa is a Shining example of her Faith. If by doing good for her fellow men she was a Conversion Machine then Hats off to her, At lest she took care of every one as her own inspite of these poor and needy people being ignored and left to die by their own clan for genertions.

Just love and caring for the Poor and disadvantaged, Thats the Values of her Religion that does not mean she was a fundamentalist she did not put a clause I will help you only if you convert? And how did you know that Baba Amte did not have any ulterior motives, that you dare accuse Mother Theresa and belittle her work? You need to do some soul searching or probaly speak to the thousans Mother Thereas has touched and Helped.

Are you serious? Go read the history of north-east India, conversions took place in the 19th century with the work of English missionaries. Mother Teresa was not even born at that time.

unlike others hinduism says serve the poor..not poor muslims or hindus or christians..a very well funded organization is missionaries of charity..go around in AC buses..agreed initially they might not have had that but now story is different. CONVERSION as a precondition to serve is not acceptable.

Whatever, celebrating or not acknowleding Mother Theresa, is a individuals prerogative.

Mother, does not need our mere mortals recognition or approval...she has already earned and got it more than any human can imagine from GOD!

So lets stop our insensitive, foolish debate and care to respect the departed!
