we can take a cue froim the above incident and take remedial action. if we do not, it will repeat in India!

reduce the private vehicle or impose penal tax on them, introduce people friendly mass transport and bigger, wider, taller and faster busses/trains!

Fat chance of that happening in India, I mean taking a leaf out of Chinese experience and doing something about roads before we meet the same situation.
Indian government will take at least 50 years just to think and make up its mind as to shall we or not do something.
If the answer is Yes we should do some thing then it will be another 50 years to do a feasibility study by the time something constructive is done 200 years would have passed and billions of rupees lost into coffers of the government officials and the result will be a big ZERO.
